Kinda stating the obvious, but one aspect seldom mentioned, the CR increase in power is not really RPM dependent, its across the entire power band..

Another downside to increased compression which has been obliquely referenced is that higher compression means less possibility of boost. |

Along with what Reed noted, another downside of increased compression is the tread on the rear tires goes away faster. |
