Movers texted 15 minutes before they were supposed to be here... “Sorry. We aren’t coming...”

WTF!?!? :x :x

Ryan Covalt won the Friday night race vs Lukus.

Rick Covalt won Saturday Vs Lukus in the final.

Lukus beat Ryan in semi final
Rick beat Isaiah in semi final

Round 1
Rick win over Andrew
Lukus win over Jeff
Isaiah win over David
Ryan win over Rodney

I'm visiting with Josh here in Knoxville and will hopefully update more when I get time.

This was my first race with the car with the new tires and no delay box. It took some learning to launch with the new tires. Started at a 1.65 60ft but by lowering the launch rpm was able to get down to a 1.49 60ft on the ET street drag radials. It felt much more stable at high speed too!

Hopefully we can get some pictures and videos up soon too. It was great to see the slanted family again.

Lucas had me beat in every way imaginable, except for a -.001 red light! He ran it out and ran right on his dial. Me? I don't even know what I was doing. But I got the win.

Made it home about 5:30 after having the pick up shut off dead on I-81 about 70 miles in. Turned out to be a faulty low oil pressure switch that kept shorting to ground. We just left the switch off(by-passed) and ran it for about 250 miles fine until the left front tire blew out! Spare wheel and tire I had with me was off a Ford and would not fit over the disc rotor hub! Lesson learned! Anyway the trailer wheels are Mopar / Ford pattern and fit over the hub fine. Drove it on home with a wagon wheel on the front and Pro Star on the back! :D Maybe I'm a trend setter?? :D Probably not!

Looks like a fun time. Was thinkin' about you all. Over 1.5 days, I had about 14 hrs of conversations with Chris' sister Rika in Indiana, so that was very rewarding... Got home last night.

Round Wins per Miles Driven would be a really crappy metric, but I sure had fun in Knoxville. The semi on Friday night was on a wet track, but Ryan held on better than I did and got the win.

Saturday was tricky with only one time trial. Lukus Bruner took me out in the first round with a double breakout. I broke out 0.005 more than Lukus.

Good news is I have time slips to submit for the AA/G 1/8 ET and MPH record.

WARNING: Meril Bruner will talk your ear off!! I think it's all part of the Bruner Family strategy to keep you distracted during the races.

Congratulations to Ryan and Rick "Covid" Covalt on their wins.

Thanks everyone for the nice comments on the dragster.

While driving to Eastern TN from Oklahoma, everywhere we stopped for gas, there was always a crowd gathered checking things out. I need to have cards made to hand out anywhere and everywhere we go. I feel fortunate to have been able to build a car that looks and drives great. It took three years. I was being pushed by some to "just finish it" and get it on the track, but I took my time and I think it paid off.

The design was a "seat of your pants" kinda thing. I had some basic design ideas, but we (Dad and I) built it up as we went. The SDRA Tulsa rules dictate some parameters, but the rest was a combination of imagination and stealing ideas from other dragsters I liked.

I am impressed with how well this little engine runs. Mine is really nothing special, but the car can run lap after lap. While at Knoxville, the only thing I did was add fuel and monitor tire pressure. Maybe someday I'll give a rundown of the engine.

Here is the other Kendall car "Wasted Money III". Dad has done well with it in SDRA. Last year we were points runner-up with the #42. This car was built in the late seventies as a HAMB dragster, but later converted to an SDRA car by adding some roll bars and an automatic trans. Dad has upgraded it little by little and now it can run below the SDRA index (1/4 = 11.50, 1000ft = 9.50, 1/8 mile =7.20)

Very exciting stuff, Jeff. Hope we can meet soon and I can get to see your dragster in person. Looks like you are a long time Slant Sixer...
