The 79's had more emissions controls and sensors / thermostatic switches on them to control aspects of the emissions system. I would have to consult the service manual to properly remember what all those are. or Dan or Mavtv91 will chime in. Greg |

That was an air conditioner car, mid-year running production change on the carburetor, solenoid for idle and a different throttle bracket on a carb. Any other air conditioning brackets left on that car. Throttle return spring bracket also used for air conditioning mount. Was it a sedan or wagon, carburetor tag number still there? Blew up your picture looks like you still have conventional idle screw and solenoid |

Great info, I was going to ask if anyone had the 1979 manual. This is from a 4-door sedan, with A/C compressor still mounted on it until yesterday. I haven't had time to read all the manual pages you posted, but it looks like I wouldn't need that choke switch if I get one of the adjustable choke controllers Dan likes. I can take better pics this weekend when I start disassembly/cleaning. I should be able to go back next week and get whatever other parts I need.On the kickdown linkage, I got the square piece with the set screw, but not the bracket with the D slot. That'll be on my shopping list when I go back. There's a biggish bracket just above the EGR valve that I didn't recognize, looks like it might have been for the A/C. |

Is this the A/C bracket where the throttle return spring connects?![]() |
