Charlie is right. If you have spark at the plugs, the ignition system is working.

If you give it a good shot of starting fluid does it try and start?
I checked the spark again and its weak spark. Times it will spark and other times it won't. Added starting fluid and won't start

I wanted to tell you what i have done. Now it runs but it runs a little rough.
At this time everything is stock.
What is new?
- Breaker
- Points
- Cap
- Rotor
- Sparkplugs

I also cleaned the distributor completely.

I cleaned the carb and did new gaskets in it.
But i guess it’s junk after all..

I bought an original electric distributor an also a HEI module.
Both are not installed yet.
It’s not that easy to get those parts here in Germany.
It would be a lot easier if it was a V8

Send Me some pictures when you install the hei module. I mean new cap changed out the sparkplugs rebuilt carb. I ordered new pickups since the old ones look just dirty and worn. How did you clean the distributor? Might just buy a new one

You have spark. What more of a test do you need of the ignition system? I forget exactly what is your issue with your slant?

Got access to rock auto or eBay? Lots of them there, and they deliver to the mail box.

Am I the only one confused here? Looks like we have 2 different people here with 2 different vehicles both having ignition problems.
First is "slant 6 83" and then ReneG. Starts talking about having replaced points? Which "/6 83" won't have with a Mopar ECU.

Slant 6 83, where are you located? I think it would be wise for someone to put some eyes on your engine and see if they can help you.

How are you telling the spark is weak?

Hold the end of the spark plug and have a friend crank the engine. Then tell us how far you sling your arm. :D :D That will tell us whether or not you have enough spark. :D

Also cars with a bad vacuum leak at the intake gasket or at the carb can have a "no start" issue.

Volaredon- I was getting a little confusion also. But I'm old! :D

It turns out the timing chain jumped reason why it won't start. How screwed am I? Is this something I can time. Or will I have to take apart the motor and inspect everything
