been a little while. been cold and busy. finally tore the head off of it today. spun a bearing on number 1 and popped the head gasket on 3&4. there was a 50/50 chance of that steel shim head gasket holding out. probably would have been fine in a non boosted motor. gotta wait for the cherry picker to pull the block out. im pretty happy that the head looks fine. looking forward to running that on the next motor. |

well racing season is coming up and i have a couple friends that built v8 cars specifically to beat my little turbo'd slant. lol. gotta get it going and give them the chance to embarrass themselves. should be fun. the cars are a 71 camaro with a warmed over 350. dude claims its making a little over 400hp. the other is a 73 firebird. again slightly warmed up 350 this one would be lucky to be putting down over 350hp. they both run good and have good suspensions so it should be a good race if i can get off the line. |

My suggestion; put a 2.76 gear in it and make sure you have some sort of radial or other bias-ply8.5: or bigger tires. I have that setup on mine and (with a spool) cannot spin the tires at the launch, with a 3000rpm converter. The 2.76 works the turbo harder, all the way... My car picked up about two-tenths with that gearing.. from a 3.55:1. Try it; you'll like it! And, with the larger-diameter pinion, they are, I think, stronger than a smaller-pinion ratio. More tooth-contact area. Just ONE MORE ADVANTAGE OF A TURBO'D SLANT SIX... (THERE ARE MANY OTHERS!) Just mt 2-cents. Good luck!!! Bill |

i had 2.73's in this car a while ago. it was rough on the clutch getting off the line. got 3.21's in it now. its not to bad. |

I'm old.... and forgetful.... I had forgotten that your car was a manual (4-speed,) and I can thoroughly understand the incompatability of a 2.76 gear and an 833.... getting it rolling... Sorry; 20 lashes with a wet noodle for me..... Bill |
