Congratulations on the new best Lou! I guess I was premature thinking my t-bar woes were over. Went out in the garage today and the nose is back down. |

I have a set of 0.830" bars if you need em. Could one of the bars have gone plastic? Lou |

Thanks Lou, but I have the bars I took out of my Duster. Mike stored the car with the front suspension tied all the way up, so I am assuming the bars have indeed lost their tension. They are 25+ years old anyway. |

Lou Is that really a thing Dr. Madsen? How does that work? |

I'm not sure if our treated steel tbars would do this - just a guess. Steel is ductile. If one part of the bar were to get twisted hard enough, I could imagine it going into plastic deformation (like a bolt when you twist it, but before it breaks). I am not a metallurgist, but it seems possible. Lou |

I tend to think in terms of a spring that is not springy anymore. It just becomes a piece of wire. I'm afraid my t-bars are jut metal rods now. I did check last night. They are not all the way down. If they hold where they are now it would be perfect. |

I don't think that is possible, unless they were subjected to enough heat to change the metal structure. Are you sure the bar anchor is not rotating?

In my experience springs can sag with time and load, whether round stock (coil or t-bar) or flat (rear leaves), especially when used near their limits. It does sound like 'plasticity' to me. How many of us are happy with the strength of the 50-year-old leaf springs in the back? They are usually one of the first suspension issues addressed, even if it's only with a pair of air shocks We can't really expect the t-bars to be in much better shape, especially the thin ones. |

How about doing like we do to check rear axles for twisting. Mark a straight line the length of the bar, as see if it curves over it's length after the ride hight changes. |

I have thought about the anchors rotating. Not exactly sure how to prove or disprove it. I guess I can mark them and see if they are spinning in the K frame? I am also pretty sure the .810 bars are considered a wear item. If I put my other bars and and the problem persists, I'll have to dig deeper. |

Got my shift light and voltmeter in the other day. Next step is finishing up the alternator install. |

I may be catching up to my T-bars after all. I checked them today and while they were down, they were not all the way down like before. I cranked them up some more and loaded it up for T&T tonight at 41. Mid-70s now, should be mineshaft later. |
