I bought a really rough '70 charger last year that had no engine or transmission. It came from the factory with a 318. I been really thinkin about puttin a slant 6 in it just to mess with people and to be weird. All the rich people seeing the cars as "Im gonna put a hemi in it and sell it on barret jackson for a mint" is getting really boring. The big problem is that I dont have the stuff to put a slant six in the charger, namely a k member...oh well...
I had a running debate with a guy over on Moparts about this very subject:

http://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/sho ... art=1&vc=1

Much to everyone's relief (I'm sure), I finally gave up and let him have the last word.

I say you presented a pretty good argument there. Nothing wrong with doing something different. I cant stand all those "If i had a charger with a /6 Id yank it for a BB" ::::yawn::: Slant six chargers may not be desirable but they are EXTREMELY RARE! There were only 2 1970 dodge charger 500 se's produced making it more rare than a '70 hemi cuda. I personally LOVE all old mopars and could care less whats under the hood :D

If I put a slant in the charger I can race it while the duster is apart

Well, to perfectly honest, I'd probably not go smaller than a 'teen in a Charger myself. But my point was that I'm sick and tired of people saying "You should do what I think. Anything else is stupid." The guy I was arguing with had no idea what the O.P.'s circumstances were, and he didn't bother to ask.

Blanket statements/opinions always tick me off.

Met a kid last night at a cruise in while hanging with a friend that has a '69 slant Cuda. Kid pulled out his pic of his 73 or 74 slant Chally. He wants to keep it that way.

Poor kid will take a lot of abuse for that.

Of course you referred him here for support, right?

A challenger with a slant 6! That rocks! He has a rare machine there! Id shake his hand for being different by wanting to keep it. With gas being over $4 a gallon Id say thats not a bad move at all.
