Post subject:  Thanks and congrats!

We had a blast at the Farm on Saturday! Gorgeous weather, great facility, and a nice bunch of people.
Attendance was down from past years; we had seven cars running this time, plus two slantless supporters.
Rodney, Charlie, Barry, Ron H., Jack, Leighton, and first-timer Ashley(I think, didn't get to meet her) were cheered on by Brian and myself.
Ashley (with her dad beside her) was driving the Drake's newly primered and powder-coated sedan and made it all the way to the finals beside Leighton, but the Simca carried the day.
Tom has all the details, and gets a well-deserved "Thanks!" for his promotion of the event.

I encourage all to continue to support this event and all others like it!

Next time I will be slanted again!

The car I brought this time was/is my first car, a 65 Valiant 4-dr that I built and installed a 318 into 18 years ago. 130,000 mi later, I took it to the drags for the first time yesterday, and despite "low-octane tuning" and an open 2.76 geared 7 1/4 (not to mention it's been sitting for 8 months 'cause I can't afford to feed it) I mustered a best time of:
.068 rt
2.11 60'
9.57 et
73.86 mph

Wheel-spin killed me in the eliminations (2.8x 60'), but it was a blast!

It will now be converted back to proper slant power (a high-mpg tune - maybe EFI?) so I can enjoy the car daily and at the track.

Leighton Drake was the winner. Rookie Hannah Plyler was RU. Her father, Rick, did a lot of racing with Dad in the early days when the simca was a slant 6 gasser. He bought Jack Tullocks old valiant from Dad for Hannah to run the TCR series at Pageland dragway.

We had seven racers show up and that meant even the 1st round "runner ups" took home $75 for their efforts.

Barry Harrison was low qualifier at a 6.89. He did not get a chance to back that up for a the B/N open record but it did back up his 1st attempt at 7.41 for the extra $25.

No one showed up running a single barrel carb so the MP manifold went unclaimed.

Thanks again to everyone who made this event. I really appreciate your support and good luck with the remainder of 2008.

Post subject:  Hannah's email address

Does any one have Hannah's email address? I have some pretty good pics of her that I'd like to pass on.

Thanks,
Alanna and Rodney

Thanks for sponsoring another great race Tom! I thought you would have a little larger turn out from some of the Georgia Guys. I especially thought that Dale Rose would want to show up there now that he has apparently unseated your 10.04 A/Unlimited record with a 10.01/10.03 (?)

Thanks to DCI for supporting American Slant 6 Drag Racing (and German 2.4 Turbo Autocrossing  ) I'll send you the results from our first race on Memorial Day!

Tom
Cinda and I would have loved to be there. We should get to do some racing next year.
We got the siding on the house over the weekend, so now its insulation time.
Thanks for sponsering,
Frank

So here's where all the Farmington attendees have been hiding!

I made it down to the event for the first time. Didn't have a mopar with me, but it was still a great time. I got a few pics, sorry for the bluish tint...I had the camera in indoor mode the night before and forgot to change it. I failed to get any pics of the white tubbed small block '64 Valiant post becasue I didn't have the space on the camera, so if anybody else did send 'em my way.

Hey Curt!

Welcome to the Forum! It's good to see new people posting. Especially ones that attend races! :D

Please post a message in Social Corner and let us know what you've got going on with your Valiant project.

Looking forward to your continued participation here and at Slant 6 Drag Races! Thanks for the pics!

Nice shots!
Thanks for the press, Curt. That black and orange Super Bee I was lined up with ran 133mph!

Apologies to Hannah for the name change.

Any time! It was good to see a few 4-dr's out there, makes me feel better about mine. I had a vid of the run against the orange 'bee but I had to delete it, I've got such a tiny memory card in my camera. That'll be taken care of before next show I hope.

Sounds like a great time, and sorry I missed it. I have the two Darts ready to rumble for upcoming races, including N. Wilkesboro. Hope I can find a second driver...

Curt, I am in Blacksburg, just up I81. We should get together sometime. I hear there's a cruise in Salem on Sat nights??

Best,

Lou

Hmmm,... MAC flights to Maryland aren't all that hard to get onto... What are your criteria Lou? :D

Rob,

You are in to drive, if you want (Pitt, NW, and Bristol are on, plus possibly 2 others). I can only get ONE car to the race by myself, so I need the driver to come to my house first and drive in tandem. I am 40 min from ROA airport, and about 4-5hrs drive from DC/MD airports.

Cheers,

Lou
