Ok so i finally swallowed the fear of welding the slots on the dist. the timing first try putting the dist back in after the weld job 15 initial and 25 total i have no room for adjustment so after i chase the wires to get the initial down to about 10 or 12 degrees ill pull the dist and grind a bit more out to aim for about 28 total. Should work like that feels more responsive down low now. ill have to test it at the track. Oh anyone know of any aftermarket fly wheels for the 833 O/D tranny im a bit worried about using the stock flywheel, dont want any explosions. Thanks kev |

Well done Kev, that time is good for a 14 sec 1/4 mile, congratulations. That 60' time is quick, sooo close to a 1.9, I'm very jealous. |

ok so heres an update i installed a 238@ .50 duration cam .510 lift from erson replacing the erson 270 cam and i haven't run the car with the 4spd yet until last wed. Last week did a few passes at sunshine didnt get any better et's due to my lack of 60foot times guess i gotta practice lauching that stick shift harder now on motor the mph seemed to be faster with this setup 60 foots were all around 2.4's with the auto was 2.0's but im having some pumpshot or just bogging issues right off the line sooo gotta work that out. did a lack luster 10.2 @70mph best run before manual and cam swap was 9.6@68 the car feels and im assuming is faster b/c my mph so hopefully once i get the bugs worked out ill put down some good et's again. any suggestions ? thanks kev |

Great looking car Kevin. I've never seen this thread before for some reason. Must say the color combination is great looking Your modifications look very similar to what I have done to the dart. Have you made it to the track lately to adjust/ get more runs with the 4 speed? Sounds like if you can get a good launch the car should really fly. Mid 9's in the 8th is really good, especially for a street driven car like yours. What flywheel/clutch did you end up using? |

Ya i cut a couple tenths off the 60 foot by slipping the clutch off the line instead of dumping it but it still noses over even doing that if i dont ease into the throttle ran a 9.8 @ 72mph that run, did add a 100shot of nitrous and got rid of a bit of bog issue. Gotta refill my bottle maybe i'll take it to the track soon before I finish the turbo motor. stock flywheel with a stage 5 spec clutch (9 inch clutch) i want to buy an sfi flywheel either same weight or lighter know of anyone who sells new sfi approved flywheels? I'm assuming the vac secondaries can't keep up with the fuel demand, i've already went through all the pump cams so many times and variou pump shooters and ended up with the biggest pump shot 53# with a 50cc accel pump and the richest pv 10.5"" and the carb is jetted 8 sizes over a factory 390cfm holley and still shows signs of having a lean bog. McLeod is where we got Ryan's at. There was no part # for it. Just be sure to tell them which crank hub you need. They made several of them with the small hub and we needed the large hub. It was suggested by someone on here who had a contact (or family connection) that we tell them it was for the Overdrive transmission and that would help them get the right size hub. Ryan's was 30# Is this Spec clutch SFI approved? Rick |

Post subject: | Heavy flywheel? |
Heavy or light, that is the question. The heavy flywheel can be a plus in certain areas. If you get the car really hooking up the extra inertia from the 30# flywheel can aid in getting that 3000# hulk of metal moving. Lou will almost surely want as light a flywheel as he can for his road racing efforts. Each has their place. Rick |

I think you are ready for a 500 Edelbrock Carb. Bogs be gone!! And maybe even a 600. Ryan's Dart runs great with the 600 and about the same setup as you have. Rick |
