You're giving up most of the performance gain by keeping the stock pipe. The 2 1/4" pipe is where you get the performance, but you can still choke it with a bad muffler. Flowmaster is a good prescription for headache inducing resonance. I'm about to put 2 1/4" exhaust on my Valiant and it's getting a Dynomax Super Turbo just like my '66 Dart had. Nice sound, but not too loud. |

Is it a "rap" sound or is it like..throaty a bit with those dynomax, i might consider buying that. How much would it cost for one? why not the ultraflo Welded? |

The Super Turbo is pretty mellow. Doesn't have the rap like you usually associate with duals on a 6 cylinder, but I think the rap is as much a function of true duals as which muffler is used. The Ultraflow welded is a bit louder than the Super Turbo. It's a lot like an overgrown glasspack, even the oval ones. I had one on my 318 Satellite with a single 3" pipe and it sounded darn good. I even have a sound clip of it somewhere, but can't find it right now. |

zerglin87, Just clamp the muffler in for now and try the Thrush Welded for $29.00 and then try another. The key is running 2 1/4 pipe all the way. You get allot more power that way. |
