Yes, Oregon has lifters, but if you're ordering other engine parts you can usually get the lifters from your regular supplier for the same price or better. |

Sorry, I know this is a really stupid question, but the lifters aren't specific to the cam? i.e. I can use stock lifters with a modified camshaft, or do I have to have them made for it specifically? |

There are some special lifters out there, but you don't need anything special. As long as you stay away from Chinese junk whatever solid lifter you buy that's made for Chrysler engines will work with a solid lifter grind camshaft. Oregon can regrind lifters, but it's usually not worthwhile unless you have rare or expensive lifters. |

Is aluminum strong enough for regular use? Sorry if this is once again a really stupid question. I'm trying to find what the stock ones were made out of but no luck.

Aluminum is OK for a drag engine that gets torn down a lot, but not for something long lived like a slant. Use steel or if your pockets are overflowing then go for titanium. Original retainers are some kind of steel and aftermarket steel retainers should be a chrome moly steel. |

That's what I thought. Yeah, I'd like to have this car built for durability as much as I would like it built for performance. I checked out titanium, but I think that's just a teensy bit excessive for what I'm going for. Thanks again, Josh! |

No worries. I just hate to see someone spend twice what they have to for essentially the same part. One of these days I'll spend a lot of money on an engine so I can spin it fast and have it stay together. Before that I plan on using nitrous and/or turbocharging and not spin the engine so fast. If you can combine both high RPM and boost then you can make some big HP. A very good engine builder once wrote that RPM stands for Ruins People's Motors. |
