Alan Johnson has made many billet heads for the 300 Ford 6's in Comp Eliminator, and they are in the 8 grand price range + parts. So if anyone has gotten quotes for one for 3 grand, someone better jump all over that. That might still seem high to many of you, but buying CNC machine time in a job shop ranges from $80-$125 per hour. Just CNC porting a set of V8 heads can take close to 40 hours, and your not really removing a whole lot of material, like you would be by whittling out a whole head from a rectangular solid block of aluminum. It would be a really cool piece, but as others have said, it probably wouldn't be cost effective or profitable, and probably a lot more than 3 grand. |
