You're so right. I will try to stay to the side in this one. Thanks, Sandy.
If I were to contribute to dyno time I would need to know the person in charge could adhere to some data collection guidelines. I would want actual data......about real things; not proving some ridiculous point. Have you seen anything from Kevin to suggest he could keep it to the point? |

Quote: Kevin, I am not asking for any more free parts, you have given me two sets of scrapers. Just want the latest/greatest pieces that you recommend for the tests. They would be returned to you. I am just suggesting this for the benefit of the slant six comunity, since there has been so much posted of late. It would give definative answers, for "our" engine.
Hope it goes forward!
So, does this look doable, if we can offset some of the costs of the Dyno time? Which or both of the engines would you like to use. As for Allpar, there is much info on the site, much posted by individuals, like myself, Dan, posibly you. Most is correct, but not all. I have sent e-mails to Allpar on a couple of occasions, with no result, that I could see. Allpar is similar to Wikipedia, in their content. |

Quote: Per our phone conversation late Saturday I am happy to provide new parts for both a 170 and 225. It was agreed that the best way to do it is to install the parts prior to the dyno pulls and then remove them while there. This is the technique I used at Ramsey's. When you are through with the parts you can keep them or have a raffle and award them to a list member. I do not need them back. I do not expect to retire selling slant six scrapers either. This will not happen before the end of January, and might be somewhat later. Neither one of us, has much time this month, due to the holidays, and other commitments. I will try to prep both engines for rebuild this month. We then need to find a dyno shop, see what parts are required for setup, and get pricing. This is where it might fall apart. I do not have the money to pay for dyno time, and I don't think Kevin should foot the bill. So it will be up to others to contribute. Something like a "group buy". |

Charlie, thanks again for being the point man. I am still in. Can you see what the dyno runs? Lets put this thing to rest. Might make a good article in the process! |

Charlie and Kevin, thanks for working to make this happen. Since I have one of Kevin's teflon scrapers (as yet uninstalled) I'd be interested to see the results of the test. You can put me down for $50. -Moose |

Quote: ... At 6500 rpms he found that it returned 5% -- this was on a dry sumped engine sitting on the dyno...
Not many SL6 engines turn 6500 RPMs or run a Dry Sump oil system.Knowing the power gains from scrapers, a windage tray and pan baffels in the 2000 to 5000 RPM range is the "million dollar question". DD |

I talked to Mike Jeffrey tonight. He will be making a run of windage trays and scrapers shortly. His price on scrapers was $15, but that was for a rough cut "do-it-yourself" kit. His new one will be a copy of the scraper that is in his national record holding Diplomat motor. He will price it after he gets the first one made. If interested call Mike at 308/324-3576. |

Gosh, it'd be keen to see a 3-way dyno comparison! |
