Yeah, I called and no surprise, the bellhousingsy aren't ready. Of course they said they will be ready soon. The first version is supposed to fit original 3 and 4-speeds. I volunteered to check out one of the first bellhousings, but he didn't seem to keen on that. He did say the housings will come with a set of adapter rings so small input bearing retainer transmissions will fit. My two 4-speeds are both '66-'67 A-body so this makes me happy. Also, there is not going to be a machined pocket to support the nose of the starter. Some folks may realize, and I'm sure many don't, that the bolt holes on the starter are larger than they need to be. This is done so that the pilot on the nose of the starter is responsible for locating the starter in the bellhousing. I'll turn a couple bushings on the lathe so the bolts can positively locate the starter. Hopefully the bellhousing is made accurately enough that I can use round bushings. :?

Funny – I've been corresponding with Gray about getting one of their robust-looking crossmembers by itself (it's only offered as part of their kit). Last I heard from him, he inferred that if I picked up one of their hydraulic clutch set-ups, he'd sell me a crossmember. Haven't been able to scrape together the $600 for the clutch set-up yet, though, much less whatever he's willing to part with the crossmember for. Keisler's is around $180 for half the material.

Is American Powertrain the owner of Quick Time? Will this be the modular bell that has different plates for different trannys?

American Powertrain is a Vendor of Quick Time components. I'll try to explain.
Originally, I spoke to Quicktime at the PRI show, and they did not seem interested. Then another member, Rod Redman, from France (I think), had contacted American Powertrain. American Powertrain talked with Quicktime, and they decieded to do it. I actually got involved to help Rod, as Quicktime wanted a stock 4 speed bellhousing to use as a sample. I sent Quicktime a stock 4sp OD bellhousing and the Mopar Bellhousing "prints". American Powertrain are the people that actually convinced Quicktime to do this.

Funny thing, I have had no response from Rod since his original request for help. Though both Quicktime and American Powertrain have contacted me on occasion.

Yes this will be the modular bellhousing. Acording to my last contact with Ross, at Quick time, there will be many options available, eventually. However that could change now that Quick time has been bought by Prestolite Performance Group.

Ross was the guy I spoke with directly at Quicktime. My take from our conversation is that though there is the new Prestolite ownership they are still operating as their own company and he's still the guy responsible for the bellhousings. I left a message on a Monday and the lady on the phone said Ross waouldn't be back in until Friday, but she passed on the message and he called me that Friday. This is better service/response than most vendors give and I haven't even spent a dime with them. This gives a good feeling.

Mike, I'm not sure, so I won't post at this time. But based on the pricing of units for other engine/trans combos, I would suggest you make another pay grade, quickly.

well i did just take my E-4 third class pettyofficer test thursday, $#!+ but i won't know if i advanced till about nov-dec ares, but lmao its only like $150-$200 difference from what i am making now lol.

Just got off the phone with Ross at Quicktime. He said they should have the bellhousings and start shipping in about 2 weeks. I gave Kathy my billing info and expect to have my bellhousing in about 3 weeks or so. I'll let you know what happens.

Someone sent Ross a /6 bellhousing with a 5.600" input bearing retainer hole. I'm wondering who came up with that and what trans used such a large IBR? Anyhow, this means the QT bell has a 5.6" hole and comes with adapter rings for the smaller IBRs. There are multiple 3 and 4-speed bolt patterns on the back of the bellhousing so most any factory Chrysler trans should fit. As long as my '66-'67 A-body A833 and the clutch fork both fit well I'll be happy.

I'll post pictures one the thing lands. Almost forgot, the bellhousings will probably be $525 initially and about $550-$560 once they are cataloged.

You are ordering for T5, or...?

Never heard of a 5.6" bearing retainer on a Mopar...

The first bellhousings are for the A833 and probably any Mopar 3-speed you can imagine. I hadn't heard of a 5.6" IBR either. Maybe someone can clear up that mystery.
