Congrats, Sam! That is quite exciting and I can't wait to get a ride. See you in 2.5 weeks. Persistence, creativity, and logic always triumph.

[quote]So, why two years ago was I completely out of sync, seemingly trying to force a square peg into a round hole, and this year everything is flowing along swimmingly? Curious, don't you think.

Sam I know the answer! We needed to have a super cool turbocharged car to show off to the public at Mason Dixon at the end of the month! :D That is the only logical explanation! I'm certainly glad things are going well with the car for you. Can't wait to see you go down the track.

You want to get off I70 at Rt.66 (Mapleville Rd). Turn left off the exit and go about 1 mile, turn left on Rt#40, Go about a 1/2 mile and you are there. Track is on the right.

Is it near Grim's junk yard? I have been to Grim's many, many times over the years.

I don;t know if I will race. I certainly would not be the most skilled driver in any event. I haven't raced at a track in 45 years. The biggest concern now is that this 5 speed came out of a tubo coup T Bird. It was strong enough for an NA slant, but I worry about the strength of it now. They make a Tremec version of this tranny, and I might feel much better about things in general if I eventually replaced the existing one with a Tremec. 2 years ago they were only about $1500. I don't know what has happened to prices in the mean time.

Does anybody know if the turbo coup tranny was strong? It is an '87, which makes it a "World Class" T-5, for what that is worth. I have always assumed it was not as strong as the one they put behind the V-8 motor.

But rest assured, I and the car will be there.

You wont break the trans.

You dont need to race the bracket....just do some time trials.

You need to do this.

You will be ready.

I appreciate the vote of confidence, Sandy, but what makes you so sure the tranny will hold up to the new horse power?

If you don't drop the clutch at high RPM, you will be fine. We can figure out a soft launch.

Drive through the burnout box and dont do a burnout.....you will get enough tire spin to avoid breakage.

.....or do as I do....let the clutch out at an idle then hammer it.

With your car its the mid and top end that counts anyways.......

OK. Maybe I will do this. It is a step in the right direction, I suppose. I will go storming around here a bit to make sure the intercooler tubes don;'t pop loose again. I could buy good silicone ones, but I am not sure, (is this any surprise) if this is the final configuration yet. The one under the fender has a slight potential for getting rubbed by the front tire under full turn in, and full suspension travel downward. How often is that going to happen, anyway? I could raise it a bit, but that would require a different set of angles up top after it comes through the fender. As Josh said in another post, "Just drive it for awhile". It is time to do that I think, and quit monkeying with it for awhile. Give the dust a chance to settle so to speak.

Thanks again for the encouragement, and coaching. The last drag strip run I made was when I was 20 years old in a 4500 pound Pontiac convertible that turned 15.7secs. I actually won a trophy with that run by beating a 52 Oldsmobile. Shades of the movie Cars here huh. That was before bracket racing. Heads up racing, and the fasted car won.
I retired from racing the next week and sold my car, and bought a Volkswagon.
