The 280/270 cam is a very good street cam with the right combo. After being disappointed with the Comp 264S I was looking for more. Keep in mind my car has stock Super 6 manifolding (BBD) so I get a great vacuum signal. Keep in mind 9.5 static CR ( I run 89 octane fuel) Keep in mind light car, 5 speed and 3.55 gears. Keep in mind a nice advance curve and 26 degrees advance. I can let out the clutch at an idle ....mash the pedal and light up the tires. It never bucks or bogs. It runs out of carb about 5000 rpm I still think of this as the Ultimate Super 6 Cam ..... In my Chevs this is a race cam.......... |

Note: The Erson "RV" profiles have .435 advertised valve lifts, the "TQ" cams have .465 lifts. Adding more duration and more lift at the same time, makes for a lot of change in A/F velocity and flow... these are different cam profile groups. Both profile types work well, when correctly matched to the rest of the engine "build", vehicle's drive train & intended use... and personal preference but to me... the move to the .465 lift designs takes us out of "street" and into "mild performace" designs. (next step is the .525 lift series which are true "performance" profiles) When using more lift you get more clearance issues and stress thru the valve train. Things like spring tension, coil bind, retainer to valve guide clearance and valve to piston clearance all need to be checked, especially if you are going from a "stock" set-up to a "performance" cam. In this case, where a large "race cam" is already installed and working in the engine, it should not be a problem. DD |

Looking at the Erson group buy cam chart this one is not listed. Do you still have the cam card to list the lift events? Thanks, |
