I agree with big D on this What difference does it make if you give 1 point, 5 points, or 1000 points, as long as everyone does it the same? Richard |

As someone who is looking in from out.... 1. Award attendance points for the meet. IE: 10 points for a 2 day, or 5 for just attending 1 day on a 2 day event. (with the stipulation of ACTUALLY running your car. (Tech pass etc) ) 2. Buy backs are ok, IF the field can SUPPORT it, otherwise none allowed. (Set the no on whatever can be agreed on) a 10 car field wouldnt really support it but could be doable. 3. Winner of buy back ladder WOULD be eligible to be involved in the primary ladder. 4. Points given in the buy back ladder would be exactly half of primary. 5. 50% of the money from buy back goes to track for the 'making' of another "ladder" (make it worth their time) the other can be awarded or tossed in a separate pot used for t-shirts etc. 6. IF buy back racer wins the 'primary' still the same thing 50% plus the purse. 7. Make the buy back at least 50% of original fee. Just an idea and an observation of what I would try and work out if I were trying to coordinate a 'fair' buy back. If i have stepped out of bounds I will just read and digest and will say I am sorry to have jumped in where I dont belong.... The "box" racing doesnt belong in WITH the footbrake racers IMHO. |

This would be a major headache to do. We make up our own ladders and give them to the tower. To make one run and then redo another ladder would be a major hassle that I personally do not want to deal with. It is hard enough to get things straight with the tracks. I don't want to confuse them or myself any more than I already am. But everyone keep talkin! Rick |

You lose, You Lose get over it. Points for attending a race are just that, why jack the number it will not cause any more to race. What about the lifetime numbers if you get more points for attending those numbers will mean Nothing! Richard |

I hadn't thought of that... Richard Did me going through and adding that all up and posting it (lifetime numbers / Career Points) stir something up I hadn't intended..? If so,... That's just too bad! |

Speaking from experience....the only thing that will increase attendance is more $$$$$$. The bigger purse I paid the more cars that attended....the more records and bonus money I paid the more cars attended. You get the picture. My thoughts even when I was putting on the races was to try and cut down the number offered and raise the purses on those left. Lets say you have 23 cars on the East coast and only offered 4 races a year.....you would probably have 4 races with 20+ cars at each one. The more races you offer the more you spread out your racers. What good is a race with 4 cars? The races I held where even the 1st round runner-ups got $10-20 were the most heavily attended. When I took the $3000 a year and spread it out among three races attendance started falling off at all of them. If I had put that same amount into just one race it would probably still be around. The only reason the 1 point was added was to break ties at the end of the year. Which never made sense to me....say someone entered one race and scored 51 points and someone else entered 4 races and scored 54 points. Who is really the better racer and deserves the higher ranking? What difference would it make if you gave 1 million points for entering....if everyone there gets the same points then the only ones that matter are the round points. You can prove this with 2012 points....just go back and give everyone 100 points for every race they entered and see if it changes the final standings... Just a little food for thought.... |

Again, we appreciate all opinions voiced here. I still think attendance points will attract some people and not drive away others. I am certainly willing to admit I'm wrong. We have a few voices here who are loudly voicing opinions. We will see what the masses think at the banquet(s). I am simply trying to get as many voices as possible involved in a vote. FYI, "The way it was" was developed over many years of rule changes since this series began in the late 90s. There will be no "my way or the highway" and certainly this attitude has never been applied since I have been helping run this series (about 5 yrs). AFAIK, there are NO purses currently in the West, and they still get good attendance. Go figure... Can we hear from some less experienced or possibly new racers about what they like? These are the people we are trying to attract. Thanks, Lou |

I am not banned yet, so here is my opinion: You can't make the points too high or a rich guy with an enclosed trailer will take the championship. No to buy backs... we need to keep it simple. We should be thankful that the tracks are putting up with us. Mark |

I thought you were banned years ago and just snuck back in... Mark I agree with ya on buy backs. Seems way too complicated from a coordinator's perspective. Clay City LOVES us! |

Well, it DID move things around for 2012... Just a little food for thought.... It would REALLY have changed things up on the Career points (lifetime numbers)... Mason Dixon Loves us too !!I too want to hear from those who are relatively new to our sport! I wish I was rich and could offer $500 to each 1st place winner at all 4 races, but I'm not. But I do try and go out of my way to make the new folks feel at home and make their first visits with us good experiences. We want them to enjoy racing with us and come back again. We also give back money to everyone at the race (even if it is $10) so they are not so discouraged when they get knocked out early. Rick |
