Thanks for the chuckle I pulled that hose of the carb where the pcv hose goes too. And it freaked out. Freaked out???? Did you also drop some acid on the head? Not helpful lingo. After pulling PCV hose from carburetor one would expect the idle to increase, and mixture to become leaner as PCV is a controlled vacuum leak that the carburetor is calibrated to take into account. If that line is not connected to a PCV valve, or valve is not moving, rather it is stuck, or crankcase has no way to have fresh air enter into it to mix with combustion leftovers and be sucked into carburetor to be burned, the mixture the engine sees will be wrong, and most likely be rich at idle. She's running better now. Going over to Gregs tomorrow, to get some adjustments done. I don't trust myself yet... |

Okay, Greg adjusted my valves and made it look easy. I did bring it home, and later checked my timing. I dunno. The timing mark was not even close to the tab. I turned the indicator on my gun, until it hit TDC, and my gun tells me I am at 32 degrees..... It is still making a sputter at the exhaust and a bit rough running. I honestly don't know. I drove it around anyhow for a while. Took it to a car cruise. I tried to adjust the dizzy, and it is maxed on the slot. SO no adjusting it that way. Unless something is just wore out. For it being out, it sure starts right up fine, cold or hot. Doesn't run hot or anything either. I am wondering also, if my harmonic puller moved on that rubber. Just a guess. Or my dizzy is beat out. |

The distributor being "wore out" will not cause it to have limited adjust-ability. You need to remove the distributor, move the rotor over a tooth and then reinstall. You can certainly be out enough for it to start and run, but not well. Slants are known to run much farther out then that. |

Okay, I will try that! May I ask which way to move the rotor, clockwise, or counter a tooth? I didn't know if this dizzy could be moved a tooth. I worked with ones that were always just two positioned. If that made sense.
