Brian our wives and I are here trying to figure out what to do today.

drop the wives off @ the outlets near Hagerstown, and the boys can drive around the scenic back roads and go mopar hunting, while seeing a nice scenic changing of the leaves in the mountains

Yes we were rained out. Although the rain stopped by 10:00Am we (Slant 6 crazies) were the only ones here. A couple of Pro Stick guys showed up around 11:30 for tomorrows race. We probably could have raced this evening, but the truth is the track owners can't justify opening up for 20 cars. Plus the wet pits drags mud up to the track.

So, no rain tomorrow, and I already spoke to Elmer and we will be running 2 races. After talking to the racers we will be running 1/4 mile for both. See you all in the morning!

Rick

Rob - Attendance points for today:

Rick Covalt
Ron Hamby
Rodney Hargis
Phil Stoneback
Brian Droschak

Sorry I missed you guys this time. It was my Mom's 96th birthday, and I could not miss that. I was expecting race results by now. I am looking forward to a full report.

It's 9:00PM on the East Coast and I just got home and have all my "stuff" unloaded. We were able to get 2 races in today and we had 10 cars for each race. So 40 points were up for grabs with Rodney Hargis and Ron Hamby both in attendance and trying for the national championship.

We had another Rookie ( Derrick Sword) race with us and guess what happened? Correct! He won race number one. Derrick lives about 2 miles from the track and his dad raced once with us last year. But this was Derricks 1st slant 6 race. Rodney went out in the first round and Ron went out in the second, so Ron gained 10 points on Rodney.

In race number 2 we had Derrick Sword staying on his winning ways going all the way to the finals again where he lost to Ron Hamby. Derrick also won against Rodney in the semi so Ron picked up 20 points on Rodney. We will have to let Rob work his magic with the numbers for sure, but we were all pretty sure that Ron had won another championship.

Congratulations to Ron Hamby on the title. Congratulations to Derrick for 2 great races. ( And he will be close on Rookie of the year points too) And thanks to everyone who showed up and made the race happen. We had a great time with our "Slanted" family. The friendships and comaraderie among our group is second to none.

I will post pictures tomorrow.

Rick

I used all ten fingers, all ten toes and my grade school abacus to come up with the final standings...

Ron Hamby is a 5 Time National Champion!!! :D

Ron wound up with 205 points without giving up any round points to the Over 5 Rule.

Rodney wound up with 190 after giving up 20 round points at his two lowest events (North Wilkesboro 10 and Bristol 10).

Ron won rounds at 5 races while Rodney won rounds at 7 races.

Ron's Performance Index for 2014 is 0.6500 (13/20)

Rodney's Performance Index is 0.4333 (13/30)

It was a great battle for East Coaster Rookie of the Year as well with both top contendors finishing the season with 80 points.

Derrick Sword edged out Adam Droschak with a better Performance Index of 0.8750 to Adam's 0.3750.

Killer Bee Glen Ambacher is the NATIONAL Rookie of the Year with 120 points and a 0.6364 (7/11) Performance Index.

Rick Covalt climbed up to the #6 spot and Lou Madsen finishes in the #9 spot.

I'm copying this over to the 2014 National Championship thread where I will post the updated Leader Board.

Thanks to Rick, the Covalt Family, and all the Slant 6 racers who made this a great event. Big congrats again to Ron and Kay Hamby. It was down to the last few rounds of the season to decide the Championship - very exciting!

Big props to Rodney and Alanna for making the long trip north and for putting on a good show with the Lancer. Thanks for getting me that battery too, Alanna!

I made it home fine, just after midnight. Wheel hop is not fun...

See you all at the banquet! Get to work on those racecars folks! I hope to have a competitive car next year, and I have a long list of winter projects on that...

Lou

Congratulations to Ron and Rodney for making an exciting season. NHRA and NASCAR wish they could make their season ending as suspenseful as the Mason-Dixon race.
Rick, good job on getting two races completed in one day.

First things First. I told Ron that I had not seen a photo of him with the "Broken Slant trophy" and one of the conditions of winning this prestigous award is having a photo posted of you with it. So here it is. He was happy to hand it over to Ryan who earned it at Clay City with his 4th broken vehicle! His truck is still in Tenn. at Meril's. Ryan will have to own it until Mason Dixon's Spring race!
