Wait, let me get this, um, straight... You sent the original K from this car to Firm Feel and they gusseted it and sent it back warped/bent? Seems like they should provide you with a good stock K or give a partial refund, or take your K back and sell it themselves. Just a thought... Lou |

I am reading he pulled the FF one out of a wrecked car. He still has the original for the car he has. Just a thought... Lou ![]() |

Sorry, i guess I haven't made this mess clear. My brother has a 74 Duster project car with a factory slant six K frame. The Duster is straight and has never ben in an accident. Several years ago i parted out a 1968 Dart that had a 73-76 spool mount K frame installed by the previous owner. The previous owner had had the K frame reinforced by Firm Feel (I think). The K frame is attached to reinforced LCAs and has the thicker C body tie rod sleeves. The 68 Dart was in a bad accident where the front end hit a cement barrier and it was totalled. I had hoped to use the reinforced K frame from the 68 Dart in my brother's 74 Duster but it turns out that the reinforced K frame is bent. I contacted Firm Feel about straightening the bent K frame and they said they coudln't do it. I still have the stock, straight, unmolested K frame from the Duster and that is what i will be using. I had planned on giving the Duster K frame to a board member whose K frame cracked. however, since I need to kepp the Duster K frame for the Duster, I am sourcing another K frame for the board member. I believe I have found another K frame in Arizona that will be shipped to me. I still can't weld, though. ![]() Hopefully that clears things up. I have a tendency to overcomplicate descriptions and get involved in complicated transactions. |

Quote: Dang, that's what I thought. OK, back to the drawing board.
Go ahead and get a torch kit. You can get them in a bunch of different sizes. You will be glad you did. |

An oxy/acetylene rig is on my wish list, but I need to (a) make room in my garage and (b) save up enough money to get one. For now I am going to strip what I can off the bent K frame and turn it into an engine stand so I can run motors out of the car. |

Wish in one hand... you know the rest ![]() They make small tank sets for the hobbyist, spend the money on a good torch first. Oxy/Acetylene is great practice for mig welding. A motor stand is on my list of garage toys. I was thinking an old truck frame. ![]() I could put a hitch where the cab used to be and it will be portable. ![]() I like bothering folks and I'm bored. ![]() The wood burner in my shop needs repair. ![]() Do what you think is right. Glad you got it sorted anyway. ![]() Have fun son. ![]() |
