Quote: yup. that's why I had said that would mean that I'd have to get me an Offy or a Clifford intake to do it.
Probbaly there have been thrmoquad swaps. And then there THIS.Gonna be putting some kind of a cable KD linkage onto it even if I stay with my original idea of the Super 6 stack anyway. I got plenty of time before my engine will be 1 piece again anyways, so plenty of time to watch you and your follies. all that said (trying to be funny here) I wonder if anyone ever tried a TQ on a slant???? I have a few of those around too. I forgot I have a Quadrajet off an 86 360 and a Holley 4360. So I have options if this AFB doesn't work out. |

Green is pump check ball part number 122 - 108 s blue is the main jet , that's what it would have looked like in 1972. Sometime after that check ball was eliminated and accelerator pump Filled from the top, curious if yours looks like that. |

matv91- Yep, my accelerator pump well has the check ball. Has "Carter" cast into the side, no signs of "Weber". I think it is a fairly old piece. Interesting that it is called out as a carb for a 383. The emulsion tubes on the venturis only have one big hole on the bottom. I should have taken some pictures while I had it apart. If I take it apart again I will take pictures. Josh- that progressive Holley sounds interesting. Is it a 2305? Did you get it from Rob (DusterIdiot) by chance? If this AFB doesn't pan out, and if you are interested in selling that Holley, I may be interested. |

Reed, Yes, it's a Holley 2305. I bought it from Blue Van Dan so that it wouldn't end up lost in the desert somewhere. I have $102 into it and I'm unlikely to use it. My first preference is to trade towards another set of 198 rods, but cash also works. |

Glad to hear it's up and running. Time for an entry into your tuners notebook. Lean best idle was achieved with mixture screws backed out how many turns. With a good face shield and a bright flashlight look down into the venturi's make sure they're dry no nozzle drip. Also gradually increase engine RPM till main system starts to flow , note rpm . Both sides should start at the same time. |

Well, I spoke too soon. I took it for a test drive and it is doing the EXACT same thing that made me pull the BBD in the first place. Argh. I am now thinking it must be something ignition related because it just dies at a stop. Again, off idle is fine, but it won't idle below around 1000. ![]() |
