Tom, your idea of running one of the other classes sounds good, if it's the Max Wedge class. I'd love to see the Simca, blue Valiant, green Lancer or one of the Arrows put it to a Maxie. This may get some attention from people who ignore the slant six racers because 'it's just a slant'. Cecil |

TheMaxi Wedge challenge idea is something I am looking into for Bristol next year. I would have to have at least 4 ten sec slants and four Maxi Wedges to give it a go.(ie committed to be there) Most Maxi wedge cars run mid to low 10's. There are a few out there in the nine's but hey even if we lose to one and put out 3 it might draw a little press about our racing group. I have to defend Seymour here. I have talked with him this year about some of this and he is interested in having a race for street cars. The logistics need to be worked out and also which race to have it at. It would probably rule out any car that was not tagged, titled and inspected. How about you other street guys, which race would you be willing to make if such a race was held? |

Clay City seems like a logical and centrally located choice for a street shootout. Columbus might be another good one since a lot of the street guys seem to be more northerly. I'm in regardless. Name the track and I'll drive my car there... Lou |

If it doesn't take place in Florida, I vote for Clay City. or someware inbetween. I don't think you will get too many from Florida, or south Georga, willing/able to travel further. Clay City is my limit. |

I believe this thread started as a way to entice more new racers. We have yet to get to the races but I love to read all about it and I follow you guys diligently. We are simply too far from any of the races to make it practical. We are about 6 hours one way from any of them. We have no car trailer, tow rig or anything so any races we go to we will have to drive the car. With 12 hours of driving, it would be kind of tough to let it all hang out on the track. Right now it simply isn't feasible for us to do. Perhaps a race here in the north east would help. 2 thoughts: 1) What about Carlisle Pa. This is one of the largest Mopar gatherings in the country. They have a mopar race on Friday afternoon and evening now. There were at least 3 slants at the event this year and ours wasn't able to make it do to a cam failure. They have a huge swap meet from Thursday- Sunday. This is an 1/8 mile track 2) Another place may be Hagerstown, Maryland. They have been hosting the Mid-Atlantic Mopars for 20 years at this track. They have a 1/4 mile track. Saturday swap meet and Mopars against the world in the evening and Sunday is all Mopar drags. Just some thoughts Rick |

I could live with a street car race at Clay City. How about some real simple rules: 1. Street tires, mufflers, licensed, and insured. 2. Must pass Tech. 3. Do a drive from the track to Winchester and back. (About 40 miles) 4. Put them right into staging to make a pass. (No refueling, if ya can't make 40 miles and one pass on a tank, it ain't a street car) 5. Run heads-up, whatever tree the majority wants. 6. No whining if you get your doors caved in. I'll put up $500 out of my own pocket for the winner.

I'm for it. I don't think Dennis believes my car is a real street car. I have driven almost 200 miles at one time. I take it to the track on the trailer, "just in case". Don't normally put on a lot of miles, because it is too hard on my wife(medical), to go much further then a local cruise. Dennis, don't forget the "blue bottle". |

I guess I don't know too much about it, but it seems that whenever I see NOS cars running, they always have to fiddle with something to get ready to race - open up bottle, change plugs, what have you... If yours is always ready to go, then great!  Lou |
