Thanks, Jeff. I'm in Louisville, KY. Just got up and will be on road within an hour. Dart running well so far. Had a nice dinner/evening with Adam Portman last night - precious time. Lou |

Slantzilla, you beat me to it. Congratulations to Lou for taking the win in both the 1/4 mile and the 1/8 mile races. It was a busy day at Mokan trying to get around to everyone and checking out all the goodies at the swap meet. Carl and Craig and the whole crew at Mokan Dragway did great today keeping the program moving right along. We talked two of the show cars into racing with us. Shawn from Coweta OK, just outside Tulsa was excited to find the slant six group and raced his 1967 Valiant Sedan, almost all original. The other show car guy backed out after the first time trial, so that put us down to 5 cars. Lou, Joel, Denny, Stan, and Shawn. I am always amazed at the variety of cars and how every slant is built differently and reflects the owner. No right or wrong way, but different ways of getting down the track. I’m also impressed that all of us from all around the country get along so well. It was great seeing everyone and a bonus visit from Seymour. Lou got the late day 1/8 mile win, and I think Steve Nitti and Denny got their two passes for a new record. This AA guy can’t keep up with the alphabet soup for records, but I think Denny got the C or D 1/8 mile record. That duster ran the best it ever had and Steve was all smiles. I was disappointed I couldn’t run with the group, but I got my block back from the machine shop and should be up and running in the next few weeks. Regardless, dad and I enjoyed the day and it came to an end all too soon. I’ll post some pictures I took of everyone’s engines and the brackets Monday when I computer access. Compare this to the standard BBC in Super Comp Dragster. Borrringgg!!! Mokan didn’t payout because they had set a six car minimum, but the bonus was they didn’t charge the Gambers fee either. The Slow ET winner bonus by Matt is also based on a six car minimum and no bye runs. If it were paid, Stan was the only slow ET winner in round 2 of the 1/4 mile race, and Lou was the Slow ET winner in the 1/8 mile finals. There were three cars that ran the 1/8 mile race. Lou got the $100 longest tow bonus, all the way from Virginia, and Steve got the $50 tow bonus, all the way from Minnesota. Stan got the honorable mention towing from the Dallas TX area. |

Thanks for the great report and race event, Jeff! It might be the first time to have 2 supercharged Slants down the track at the same time, and I'm sure only time in a final round! Let's ask Seymour. More to report later... Lou |
