On engine colour - saw a 1972 RSA Valiant Regal Today - aka Dodge Dart ~70?

Very good nick very original - and oily - the engine is Red - I had a look underneath after a presure wash - you can see it has worked but has not been abused -

The elderly owner assured me the engine has never been out of the car - and I saw no evidence to disprove this - the engine mounts are very aged- no over spray - the paint is worn away here and there and nothing but rust underneath

Saw a couple of red blocks - one yellow one from a D100, and the Orange ones in the Hipo machines and oh yes turquoise in the stock units.

orange formula S in a rebel..

If I may pick your brain just a bit more, good sir...

If it's a 225-2 (heavy-duty), then yes. If it's a 225-1 (standard-duty) then no.
How would I go about telling the difference? Is the number stamped into the block somewhere, or is/are there some easily identifiable characteristic(s) that make it easy to tell? If it's already been posted elsewhere, I apologize, but I didn't find it.

Engine colour is not a very reliable indication of build configuration...especially so many years after they were built!
Good point, though I can say with a fair bit of confidence that this is factory paint. This block has never been assembled; it's essentially NOS.

Slant-6 colo(u)rs from the factory:

Blue: 1970-1982 all passenger cars & trucks, North American market

Black: 1983-up, all applications, North American and probably other markets.

This list almost certainly omits some versions of the slant-6 sold in some non-North-American markets.
My '82 Plymouth Gran Fury /6 is black.

Early in this thread someone suggested not to paint it brown. Why not? I think any color on a SL6 would be cool. There's a purple one in the threads, maybe it is plum, anyway it looks awesome. Pink? Why not? Especially cool are vivid colors when it's a strong and/or unique build. I say go for it!!
