I think what you ran into was the fact that alot of plugs have been discussed and tested and some of us like to think we have the best answer before the question is asked or really don't read the question and assume that we know what your asking or talking about. Also a perticular NGK plug has been talked about/pushed with such high regard that it seems hard to accept any other one. Yes most of the high priced plugs are just that, high priced, but there should be room for discussing others.
I am personaly going to be testing many plugs in a few days (on an engine dyno) to see what happens. I will say that some of the problems that some have talked about, that to me are not being blamed on wrong heat range or plug type, seem supicious. Part of me wants the holy NGK ZFR5N to fail miserably.
I find myself conflicted with this feeling. Much knowledge and wisdom on tap, but the delivery of such expertize, can cause some to wish for failure. Dosen't make sence but it is still a realality.

Of course, Bren. We'd expect no less from you. :D

Are you going to vary the gap on each? How many different plugs are we talking?

Probably about 4 or 5 sets All NGK's. Stock plugs couple heat ranges, the ZFR5N's plus some colder ones. No high dollar plugs. Maybe some Autolites.

Wonder if you'll be trying out Mike's spark plug modification on any of the plugs.

I have a post 67 head with the revised camber. Won't be modifing, milling or indexing any plugs, just simple gap setting.

Maybe Mike would send you a set or two of his drilled "torch plugs" for you to include in the test without your having to take the time and trouble to drill them yourself.

Will you have an oscilloscope hooked up so you can keep track of secondary ignition voltage? That would add tremendously to what can be learnt from the data you're collecting.
