We'll be headed up that way tomorrow mid-morning. We'll probably see you all at the track Saturday morning.

*edit* Is there anything planned for dinner Friday and Saturday night?

Greetings from the Speedway Super 8!

Yes! There are plans for Friday and Saturday evenings! We're looking forward to seeing you David!

Jerry's Nugget for Prime Rib on Friday, then the Buffet and light show Saturday.

Tech was closed early today, so though Tristan and I unloaded our cars around 5:30 tonight, we couldn't tech in.
That's OK. After three days on the road, I wasn't ready to face changing out to race rubber and getting all the junk out of the car.

Doc rolled in with Allan towing the toad. They had yet one more adventure in getting to MATS. I'll leave the story to them!
Right now there are three Toads lined up in front of Guzzi Mark's room. The parking lot is awash with beautiful Mopar examples.

We had a great pre-race party in the parking lot of the motel in front of Mark's room, traded stories, and caught up. A nice evening! It's great to see everybody after a long winter of tinkering.

Kesteb, where are you staying? We'll see you soon!

CJ

For those up North, it's 85 degrees out there!

Linda uttered words I never thought I'd hear; "Honey, could you turn on the air conditioner?"

We have a field of cars here too! If Choppie runs, we'll have 16 competitors. Everybody is running well! Reaction times are all over the map, but we did just wake up from Hibernation!

Nobody is broken, though a couple of us didn't think to adjust our idle mixture to the altitude. Yeah, that would be me!

At the start of every run I adjust my tire pressure. At the end of the run, my locker is clicking going in a straight line 'till the tires cool off. One of my MT's is more prone to heat or taller than the other, and grows a bit across the 1/4 mile. When I get back I'll go into my tire shop and have them measure them at inflation. The one on the right is slightly taller. If they can't get that worked out, I'll probably get myself some matched 24.5's and mount them to the shiney new alloys Andrew brought for me. The quarter is just about perfect. I'm rolling the stroker through the traps at 4500 RPM. The Dual Dutra Duals make an angry buzz at shift points and just before I lift, then my low back pressure exhaust starts popping as I coast into the run-out.

The track, as always, is superb! I'm running quicker than I thought for the density altitude. It was pushing 5000' today. Edd has been keeping us all in the know with his weather station. :D

Lot's of our team members are experiencing great car performance considering the air up here. I sped up as the day got hotter.
Others experienced the opposite, as one would expect. I'll have to work with my mixture and timing a bit.
The Hooptie is running as fast up here as it did at Redding prior to the winter's mods. It's going to be interesting to see what it does at the lower altitude tracks.

Congratulations Tristan!
Maybe this will make up for the trip to Samoa last year, your tour of Oregon & northern California to get there.
What were your numbers??

Guzzi Mark was running 13.80's in the chop top.

Choppie sold his van at MATS to pay for a new kiddo expected to arrive next month! :D Congratulations Scott!
Scott still has a /6 car, so we'll be seeing him again soon! I'll let him tell the story of where the Van finally ended up!

Let's see, the Hooptie was running in the 16.8 range. I dialed 16.71 on Sunday, and drove a 16.75. The car was superb for bracket. I just need to learn to drive it! I was in the red pretty deep that last run.
As they say, stuff happens!

The way things look, Mark should get down much deeper in the 13's when he get's to some thicker air, and Andrew will be pushing it closer to the 12's. Andrew had one run in the 13.40 area.
Doc ran a 12.7x run, then suffered a shifting issue running against Andrew's beautiful Red white and blue Valiant.

More photos will be coming as soon as I get off the hotel wireless. It's good, but not like my connection at home! Time to pack up and get out of Vegas folks! I'll write again when we get to wherever it is we're going!
