Very nice! :D

Weren't you going to run a crank scraper in addition to the windage tray?

Nice "Torque Monster" you've got there!

When the '64 Valiant convertible went "full lock" on that one corner I had to pull it squeeling through the intersection and about a block up the road before I could turn off. I straightened the wheel and put bungie cords on the steering wheel to allow it to turn just a little without going full lock again.

Rob,, no crank scrapper on this motor,, I want to see if I can do a windage tray first...

WV,,, by the time I am done with this D-150 it will take a Dodge lover to want it,,I have every intention of using it up,,, I am putting a lot into it, but this is not going to be a trailer queen, I expect to get a lot back,, wether it is running at or towing to Maxton or Bonneville or the Texas city to city or Clay City,, the 83 D-150 had better perform,,and perform well,,,the mode of operation is "Live Long and Prosper" :D :D :D

Looks and sounds great, John. Can't wait to see it run.

motor and tranny installed, fired it up yesterday..

hooked up some gauges so I could track what it was doing,

went through three cycles of running at 2000 rpm for about 15 minutes, letting it cool completely then another 15 minute run at 2000,,

starts good,, seems to run fine,, using a mechanical fuel pump and a old points dist,, no vac adv, or pcv hooked up,,just to have a few fewer things to mess with at start up,,

http://www.flickr.com/photos/13718356@N ... 012529814/

one issue,, getting a little drip of oil, from the rear bottom cover weep hole after the engine sits ....
I'll put a post up in the engine section,,asking about that..

was good to hear it run,, even had a few neighbors come over to see what was happening.

Let's duck tape a couple of lawn chairs to it, get a cooler and drive it around the neighborhood!

hauled the chassis down to Kenny's shop on Friday,, today I got some great help from Wayne V and Kenny J and the cab and doghouse are now back on the frame.

here are some photos
http://www.flickr.com/photos/13718356@N ... 151012186/

note the cast on Kenny's wrist,,, some curious tale about a refrigerator and a second story staircase.... seems to me hoisting steel truck bodies with a chain fall is much safer...

Note the "special" steering mechanism. DT fits in well south of the big city!

don't have the D-150 back yet, but there are more than a few items to still sort out.

one of the upgrades for the 83 D-150 is the dash bezel, the section above the heater control on the 83 was blank, some of the later D-150's have a small storage pocket there, some have a "message center".

http://www.flickr.com/photos/13718356@N ... 1040262154

I got one of the message center modules, and in working with a very cooperative manager at the local Kinko's-Fed X store, got a new cover plate made up that will house indicator lights for
AC on, electric engine fan on , emergency brake on, tranny in reverse.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/13718356@N ... 1040262154

the lighting is simulated, I'll probably use colored led's, blue for AC, green for fan, red for the brake and yellow for the reverse indicator.

also adding power windows and door locks, and a few switched accessories
the rocker switches in the top row L to R are, power door locks, I plan to have one central switch to lock and unlock both doors, the next switch is for the driver power window, the R switch is for the passenger side window.
these are double pole double throw momentary switches
the two on the bottom are on off rockers, one as a manual override for the electric radiator fan, the second to light the bed light that will be added

http://www.flickr.com/photos/13718356@N ... 1040262154

I have mocked up the wiring for the power windows, can get the motor to spin forward then reverse depending upon the rocker position. I'll look around and pick up a door lock kit this week

I wound up mounting my vacuum gauge in that area. Mine just had a blank plate there. I used some king starboard for the material, looks almost factory.

Got down to Kenny's today over lunch,,
making some progress on the D-150 body

http://www.flickr.com/photos/13718356@N ... 456906382/

They worked the long dents out of the R & L front fenders, indicators from back when Dad, towards the end of his driving carieer was navigating more by 'feel' then by sight.....
also getting the other 29 years of accumulated body dings straightened up.
May be ready for primer late next week,, If it stays on Kenny's to-do list, I'll get it back in October :D
