I shoulda got the mcleod p.p when I had the chance. My project stalled when some personal tragedy hit. Trying to get back "in the garage where I belong" and build my engine and assemble my transmission. I'm gonna need a lot of help. The only thing I've found is centerforce part # cft360116. Reckon I'm a need some of that help. Thanks yall I need a shifter.

Post subject:  McLeod parts update

After finally topping off my build with Clifford headers and intake w/ Holley 390, the B&B 10" clutch came up as a weak point, plus I don't like the potential for explosion. So here I am embarking on this journey. As noted before, these parts are no longer produced by McLeod to my dismay. However, they can still provide solutions.

The big bite is the flywheel. While they don't stock it, they can retool and reproduce it to order. Same part number (464001 @ $600!!!) but they will produce it exactly to your specifications: large vs small hub register and pressure plate bolt patterns. I figured that since McLeod seems to be the best option and I'll likely daily drive a manually shifted slant powered car for the rest of my life, this flywheel would prob last that long and give me options down the road. So I bit the bullet and went ahead and ordered one  . I got one with the small register (I have a 64 motor/crank) and drilled for both the 10" long PP and the standard Borg & Beck.

The pressure plate they suggested as a substitute is a ford 10" diaphragm style w/ long bolt pattern (Part# 360030 @ $208), which looks exactly like the 360116 and appears to be for Mustangs. Hopefully I won't have to trim the tabs like Greg did but I'll have to determine when I get it.

They give you any combination of material (organic/ceramic, org/org, cer/cer) and construction (spring or solid) choices for the clutch disc. They said the organic/organic disc would be good for 200hp but would fade quicker. So I opted for a sprung ceramic/organic disc (Part# 27025 @ $250) which they say would hold up to 300hp. This is more than adequate for my motor and should provide decent driveability.

All said and done it was $1,058 and will take 4-6 weeks to manufacture and deliver. This should give me adequate time to install and be ready for the /6 races in Redding in May. I'll update this thread with solutions to any hitches I encounter beyond what Greg described.

Sounds Good There Mr FNC..

I still Have these parts in the car today.... Will Drive it to work tomorrow.

Daily Driver - No Issues yet.

They are durable Good Parts.
maybe Pricey But I have not had this stuff apart or even paid attention to it since 2012. Better than Cheap Crap that will wear out and get replaced soon.

That is a great price on that flywheel, if it can be had with the dual pattern or at least the Ford pattern.

It's kind of deceiving! I had seen the parts listed on other sites as well as if they still carried it. I placed an order on Tues through Autoplicity since they listed the flywheel and PP. After ordering I received a notification that the parts would ship directly from the manufacturer (McLeod in this case), so I called them to check whether they in fact still made them, to which they responded that they didn't. I talked to Billy and he said they could make the flywheel but at significant cost since it's out of production and basically have to be made as a one off, and also suggested the alternative PP and clutch disc. Needless to say my Autoplicity order got bounced back and refunded.
For the reasons you verified Greg, I have no regrets. It is the ultimate solution and I feel good about buying quality made in America which could likely outlive the car ...and me (the flywheel at least): build it and forget it! So in that regard, it's totally worth it to me. :D

Do you you know, or did you inquire when they said they would retool for a run of one flywheels, whether Alum was also an option?

I will contact them Monday and see if they can make it a run of two if your order is still in waiting, alum would have been my first choice, otherwise your initial order is exactly what I'd order. I don't expect this to delay yours, i hope.

Hey JCC, I didn't ask about an alum flywheel but I should have. They just called me last week to say they were setting up their CNC machine for my order and to ask me to verify what crank bolt pattern I wanted cut, so I know they're working on it. This would be a great time to inquire! I'm not worried in the least about your order delaying mine. I'd give you the name of the guy who took and knows my order but I can't recall.

Thanks BTW. The internet is a powerful force. LOL. Spoke with Billy, said I'm 3rd caller this morning on this item. I'm going with alum, its therefore not part of this steel run, but i can wait.

I was one of the callers yesterday morning... placed an order for the flywheel (large hub), PP, and a disk for a T5 trans. Wish I'd gotten in on this several years ago when they were cheaper.

I've got 2500 miles or so now on my T5 conversion, and am anxious about the 10" B&B PP after perusing the forums.

Hi Guys,

Please clarify: You are talking about calling someone at McLeod and ordering this 10" diaphragm PP and disc and flywheel? Ask for Billy it sounds like.

Thanks very much,

Lou

Recap, I spoke with Billy, I ordered a small register, 122 Tooth Slant six crank pattern out of alum, with steel insert, with stock PP pattern and 10" Ford Pattern, 4-6 weeks, 50% deposit, you need to sit down on the price, but I only need one, and i'm not getting any younger. :D

(On small register decision, I'm thinking if the need ever arose, it could always be enlarged, but small is what is in the car currently, will use it with an all Alum 833 Passon, EFI Turbo 225 62 Lancer alum 8.75/2.94SG)

jcc, do you have the Passon all aluminum A833OD? How do you like it?

Non overdrive, I believe I got a close ratio?, been a few years, I'm happy with it, but its currently in a warmed over 273 62 Polara, that will be getting a 6sp Richmond OD ,with a warmed over 360 EFI, passon needs to go someplace so the lancer seems like a good fit, but a little overkill. Passon are good people.

There is more info on trans at pic #17 of the build
