Yes that really changed the east Coast standings. Champion and Rookie of the year too. |

It is easy to put up straw men and knock them down. Arguments go nowhere in these cases. 100 pts is ridiculous, so why bother thinking about it. Thanks for your new opinions, Mark and Rick. Lou |

If you look at my point standing, with 1 point/race I am 10th - with 5 points/race I go to 9th - with 100 points/race I move to 4th. I am fine with 1 point per race after all it has worked for years. Last year P.J. and I were tied for 2nd, but she had gone to 1 more race than I and got the 1 point that got her 2nd place. Richard |

Quote: Quote: ...You can prove this with 2012 points....just go back and give everyone 100 points for every race they entered and see if it changes the final standings...
Well, it DID move things around for 2012... Just a little food for thought.... It would REALLY have changed things up on the Career points (lifetime numbers)... CJ Stoakes........................1260 Andrew Howard..................1160 Wendy Pine........................1090 Richard Bjerklund...............1070 Jack Everhardt (Rookie)......1060 PJ Jesiolowski.....................1009 Lou Madsen..........................994 Meril Bruner.........................858 Allen Dutra...........................817 Doug Dutra..........................777 Mark Etheridge.....................752 Ryan Covalt.........................737 Gary Bruner.........................727 Frank Funk (Rookie)..............716 Aric Erickson........................706 Mark Murray........................666 Lukus Bruner.......................666 Ron Hamby.........................646 Mike Bjerklund....................626 Frank Wright.......................626 Whitney Covalt....................525 Courtney Bruner..................505 Charlie Schmid....................469 Brian Mimken......................444 Rob Simmons......................444 Brian Droschak....................444 Wayne Erickson...................434 Rodney Hargis.....................434 Denny Covalt......................434 Steve Adams (Rookie).........404 Chase Simmons (Rookie).....404 Rick Covalt.........................404 Micah Covalt.......................404 Will Burns...........................358 Sergio Gonzales..................343 Walt Skoczylas (Rookie).......323 Rob Armstrong....................323 Doug Powers.......................323 Mark Charapich...................323 Dave Mueller.......................313 Greg Ondayko.....................313 Phil Stoneback.....................252 Ken Kalis (Rookie)...............222 Randy Ashley......................222 Bruce Pine..........................212 David Endres.......................212 Romeo Furio........................212 David Erickson.....................212 Curtis Prater (Rookie)...........212 Matt Pyrak (Rookie)..............212 Charles Brooks Jr.................202 Aaron Heath.........................202 Larry Chesney......................202 Norm Foster.........................202 Mike Andreas (Rookie)..........202 Andrew Shank (Rookie)........202 Scott Jones..........................141 Jessica Howard....................141 Seymour Pederson..............131 Mike Keller..........................131 Mike Evans..........................121 Ken Anderson......................121 A. Quote: AFAIK, there are NO purses currently in the West, and they still get good attendance. Go figure... West coast - Wash - 5 track in the entire state Oregon - 7 tracks Cali - 14 tracks. Nevada - 2 tracks East coast - NC - 21 tracks SC - 11 tracks VA - 10 tracks TN - 15 tracks PA - 7 tracks OH - 14 tracks Fl - 13 tracks What works on the west coast might not work on the east just because these racers have far more opportunities to race. If the economy does not start getting better it is something to think about. I can not imagine what some of you guys are spending in gas these days to make some of these races. |

Why would fewer tracks give more options? Lou |

Fewer places to race = more racers at tracks! I don't think Oregon has more than 5 tracks with 2 being 1/4 mile. Richard |

OK, I am thinking as a totally myopic Slant 6 racer... Good point. Lou |

Wish I knew what "myopic" was! It must be somethin really smart since Lou is using it !!! |

Definition: 1. being nearsighted--having myopia; 2. lacking foresight or understanding. Synonyms: nearsighted, short-sighted, narrow-minded, closed- minded ... I don't think narrow or closed minded are to be included with Lou's comments. Richard |

I think you overlooked Lakeview Richard. I don't think Oregon has more than 5 tracks with 2 being 1/4 mile. Richard Current list is: PIR, Woodburn, Champion, Coos Bay 1/8, Madras 1/8, Lakeview 1/8. All NHRA member tracks. With Redding's possible move to IHRA, there is the question of what Medford will decide. Tonight racers are getting together to meet the new prospective operator of Medford. Still haven't heard what the final decision was at Redding. To go by the web site, they are still NHRA. Southern Oregon is Medford. (White City.) The web crawlers haven't figured it out . Thunder Mountain doesn't seem to exist in Baker City any more. Correct me if Baker City is still in operation. I'd hazard a guess that everyone heads for Boise to race Firebird. CJ |

That's exactly what Blankencrook found out when he expanded the Classic events to 8 races instead of 4. Rather than have 8 events the size of the 4 he started with, he now had 8 small events. Except for the really hard core points chasers, most people can't afford to go to more events and choose to stay closer to home. Honestly, I have no clue how to grow the series without throwing more money at it. Remember, our class consists of vehicles powered by motors that have been out of production 25 years. It's getting harder and harder to convince people that racing a Slant is a sane idea in the first place. Around here it is getting really hard to find Slant cars that are not rusted to the ground, or that have already been V-8ed. It's kind of a Catch 22. To get more race cars you need to throw more money in purses. More race cars will chase street cars away because newbs can easily get disillusioned having to compete against real race cars all the time. |

I just want 1/8th mile splits,$100 purse per record, and 100 points per new record.Sounds fair to me, |
