Did Denny stay on to race for King of the Track? |

Yes he went up, and when he got there they told him "slant 6" was not included. That was even though they called us up to run in it. No biggie! Rob that looks correct. So as of this minute a Covalt is at the top of the National Championship list! I better take a picture! Rick |

So, can anyone give us a 'hint' as to what the new records might be? |

Rusty, Do you think you can get 9 cars? If so I know someone who may consider it! |

I just posted on the "run for the championship" thread. I didn't realize I would have that many points. I would consider going to Tulsa if there was a mathematical possibility that I could catch the other 2 guys. Will there be just one race there? I think I can get some more attendance points but I think I would need to win 3 or 4 rounds to have a chance. Maybe Rob can help me figure it out. 1200 miles is a long way to drive in one direction but I would consider it if there were enough cars. |

Hey Ryan, You have already given up your two lowest round races (Wilkesboro and Hagerstown 1 rounders). So the next race you will have to give up will be one of the 2 rounders. That means that even if you were able to win 3 rounds at Tulsa you would only add a total of 15 points. With Rodney's record just confirmed he is now 20 points ahead of you. Can you win 4 rounds at Tulsa to add 25 points for the Championship...? I'm a pretty optimistic kinda guy, but it is going to very difficult. Disappointing, but maybe a relief that it makes that 18 hour drive a little less compelling. Sorry Rusty, but I gotta call it like I see it. I really hope Tulsa turns out a great car count and becomes one of our regular races to give more of the Midwestern racers a chance to get involved. |

Thanks Rob. So I guess the first question is can there be 9 cars at Tulsa? 2nd question is what are the chances of me actually driving a slant 6 car 1200 miles one direction and actually making the trip...... then driving back home, given my past track record. Then what are the chances of winning all 4 rounds Guess I should have won a few more rounds closer to home .....Now if Rusty had over 9 cars and there were 2 race days Even then I realistically probably couldn't make the trip but it is fun to think about. Guess I should start thinking about getting the race car back together for next year. Then hopefully I will have a good consistent car to try and make another run at the championship..... or maybe some records. |

I have a question, if someone sets both the ET and MPH record for a given class, do they get points for both? I am asking because the new D/G record will reset both ends of the current record (once it is validated). |

As far as points go: A racer only gets the 20 points for one record per season. S/he can set and re-set multiple records throughout the year, but only gets the points once. The 20 points is to encourage people to push the limits while still preventing someone from stacking the deck with lots of points for records. A couple years ago Mark Etheridge (madmax/6) set something like 10 records!! It's pretty hard to be both consistent and set records. You'll notice that both Ron Hamby and Rodney Hargis re-set that D/G record this weekend by adding weight, but they did it Sunday after they were done in the bracket race. |

I was going to try and get there but the storm changed path. I'm glad I stayed home. The power went out at noon on Saturday and didn't come on until last night. And the basement flooded. Big fun at Andreas Homestead!!! |

How does it work for points, if two people go quicker then the existing record, in the same class, on the same day/meet? Do both get points, quickest gets the points, first to break the old record, etc? |

Per the official rules "All racers breaking a specific existing record on any give race weekend (even if there are two races on both sides of the country on the same weekend) shall receive the 20 bonus points." So it really doesn't matter who set it first, as they both broke the existing record, on the same race weekend. see Slant Six Forum, Forum Index -> Racing Q & A -> Slant Six Rules -Updated 2016. It is covered on the sixth bullet under the POINTS section. We double checked before coming up this weekend. |
