I got the engine buttoned up, reset cold lash from 0.012" I & E per cam card, to 0.014" cold, and radiator trans lines etc installed about an hour ago. I'll mess with a hot lash after rolling on some miles.

Cranked her over a few seconds to fill carb, and it started right up, idled about 1200 rpm without hoofing throttle. As it warmed up, and checking & topping off trans fluid idle increased. After I installed harmonic balance I checked timing mark at TDC, it was zero per timing tab, static timing was at +10*. Engine acted much better, would idle down to 900 rpm, showing 10"Hg @ 1200 rpm 12-13Hg

Re tuned idle air, advanced static timing to 14*, set idle at 1000 RPM, went for a short ride on our privet road; my inspection sticker ran out last month, and hood is still off. Its running on 93 straight ethanol free gas. Exhaust smells much better at idle than before engine rebuild, no more rich stink.

Low end power is not what I expected, still kind of lazy but better than before rebuild. Over 2000 rpm it starts to come alive, and once secondaries open it pulls hard. I let trans auto shift at 4000 rpm; only have about 5 miles on it.

Over all is a better driving car than before.

Cool!

The rest will be less traumatic.

mebbe cam timing adjustment will perk up your low end....

Awesome progress! Do you have a high stall converter? What axle gears? I have a similar cam in my engine still on the stand.

Thanks. Sounds like it should get up and go.

For a street slant it is several notches above off the showroom floor factory performance level in 1967, but when I want to haul butt, I hop in the 300C; an old-man's car... Well, Iv'e been told that anyway.
