Man, hard to catch a break! Keep at it... I wonder if the gas pedal/linkage is trying to push the carb throttles further than WOT and that is loosening them or forcing them to rotate on the shaft?

I would check that also. My Webers had a stop cast into the body. Mine were not opening far enough so I adjusted that. :D :D

Keep at it Stan! We are rootin for you!

Found this on another tread.
And to think, I was told I needed to turn 7000.

Problem is you cannot even turn 4300.........

Actually, after I put the 4.86 gears in we turned it 6700 and it kept pulling.

I know you're too proud to do it, but let me send you my Nyutten 650 Holley to try. Leave the Webbers until you have actually gotten some good runs on the car, then start screwing with the Webbers.

Actually they are spelled "Weber".

Not too proud, look at the abuse I am taking.
If I was proud I would crawl in a hole in a fetal position!

Yea a couple of issue with the Webers, but I do like them.
I have a new lever on order from Speedway.

I have a 650 DP sitting on another intake ready to go.

Trust me Stan, nobody wants to see that car fly more than me.

It's just too much fun kicking you when you're down.

Another emphatic vote for swapping to a known good 4bbl, just to make sure the webers are not your problem... This could save you a ton of work and time and heartache, in the case that the webers are somehow still not functioning properly

I hear you both.
I want to see what the trans does before I pull the intake.

Just as a reminder, it's starting to cool off here in Texas so I assume the rest of the US is as well.
Please DRAIN your water from your race cars or install some anti-freeze.
If you are cold they are as well.
Don't need anymore cracked cast iron!

I suppose this is all part of the teething process in sorting a car.

Ruster Ran 19.20 the first time out. Then after an engine build, it was solidly into the 13's, then the 12's then the 11's.. Simplify then add lightness. :D

I still have all kinds of problems with the megasquirt on the ignition, but when it works it works well, and I have only myself to blame.

Keep focused, you'll get there. I would also throw that other intake on and see if there is and induction problem or not.

I was talking to Patrick Saturday. That motor always used water and snotted up under the valve cover really bad. I never got any water in the pan. It's possible the head was already cracked anyway.

We're going to try and fix it ourselves. What have we got to lose?
