WOW  I wonder how I haven´t notice this thread :? Is there any pictures that work, not one worked here :(

I finally started working with my loonng time turbo project. I was going to make it from 170, but I´ve started to think of 225. More torque you know... I just need to find new set of con rods.

:D I know enough about turbos to stay away from them. I'm glad I don't have to race you! Not yet anyway...

However......When it rolls over on the right rear spring, it seems to hunt around a little bit, and you may be leaving something behind at the 60'. What sort of suspension is under your little pocket rocket?

Thanks Dago, I'd like to get out to a Slant 6 race sometime. There isn't one to close though. I did lower the tire air pressure to 12.5 lbs and it dropped .04 60'. Runs 1.65 60 ft. It was having a tire hop problem. Stock 6 leaf big block a-body springs, stock shocks, pinion snubber and pinion angle. I will maybe need to raise the snubber to help it out also. I haven't checked the height yet. I'm hoping to get this rocket alittle more consistent this next weekend.

 Okay, with that setup, and the obvious grunt you're laying down, the car should lift the body, which will plant the slicks and move the car forward. My first guess (I hope other racers check in with their ideas too) would be you're running out of shock travel. Like one of those paddles with the rubber ball attached to it, the tires literally start basketballing. A simple fix is longer shocks. I used Monroe Blues for a D-100 pickup.

The shocks are economy Monroes (blue in color also) but for the 66. I was going to put the truck shocks on but I thought the shock would bottom out since it sits so low. When I study the video, it seems to flick the rear into the body instead of down (hense the bunny hop). This would be a pinion snubber problem? Or should I go with a stiffer shock on just the right side or both. The left front comes up and the right rear goes down. The body doesn't seem to twist. It has welded in frame ties. Dago, what does your car do for a 60 ft? Also, what car and combo do you have? Thanks

I didn't get a video of the one launch when it didn't feel like it hopped. I will this coming weekend.

Ryan, do you plan to be racing at Oahe on Sunday? This would be a good weekend to come out and meet you and run my white Valiant. Do they race Saturday also? Regarding your wheel hop problem that usually means the front half of the spring isn't strong enough. How many leaves are in the front half of the spring? How many go all the way forward to the spring eye? Do you have any clamps on the front half of the spring to hold the leaves together? How strong are they? Actually a 1.60-65 sixty foot time isn't that bad for a 110MPH car but it needs to be consistent. My race car runs 112MPH and the best sixty foot time was 1.49 but low 50s are more common, depends a lot on the track prep. I have four rather thick leaves going all the way forward and one strong clamp about 6" back from the eye. I also use a pinon snubber and long QA-1 shocks.

I'm plan on being there on Sunday and Monday. There are races on Sat but I won't be there. I just checked my springs, on the right side: all six leaves go staggered both ways and there is 2 clamps on the front and one on the rear. Left side all six leaves go staggered both ways, 2 clamps on the front and 2 on the rear. Clamps are in nice tight condition also. Pinion snubber is about 3 1/2" from the body. I have heard this needs to be around 1", is this correct? My turbo is still in AR, he's calling this afternoon to let me know what the damages are. Hope we can get together. Later

I have 2 going all the way to the eye. The third is about 4" back with the first clamp at about 5" back from the eye. Second clamp is holding the fourth spring which is about 3" from the first clamp. Later

If you have a total of 6 leaves and 2 clamps on the front half of the spring that should be workable. 3 1/2" inches is a lot of clearance on the snubber more like 1" might help. What is your pinion angle? You should be seeing quite a bit of chassis rise in the rear and you need 6-7 degrees down at rest. The front of the axle rotates up when you accelerate and that negative pinion angle straightens out. This saves wear and tare on parts but I don't think it really effects wheel hop. Sounds like I need to check with you later in the week to see if you are able to get your car together for Sunday.

Well, built a pinion snubber that sits 1" from the body and got my bigger (10-12-14) meth jets in the mail today. I'm not going racing this weekend though. My turbo was messed up and since it was a china knok-off, it's not worth fixing. So, Gerry at G-pop Shop is building me a good one. Come to find out, when he was measuring it, it's actually close to a T-70 instead of a 60. Put together using 3 different manufacturers plus there own casting. A real screwed up piece. I'm going to try 100% meth also instead of 50/50 mix. Later.

I went with 100% meth and hav never gone back to a mix. I have the 7gph in right now but have a "10" in the wings. You might also try a few degrees of pinion down angle to help traction.

On another note, my block has been cleaned, the saddles and line checked out OK. I'm going to acid wash the water jackets, deburr and do a partial hard block fill.

Hey Shaker, The DevilsOwn jet size calculator said in my current configuration I needed a 8.94 and 12.52 for my projected goal. I'm assuming your going to need a bigger jets because were never happy with how fast we go. Later Dude

12.52 is about the same for me if I turn it up to 30psi with my new motor...which I might try. I'm hoping 20psi is where I will settle.

Today was a good day for the Valiant! All I did from the 12.00 combo was put on the different turbo and a bigger #10 meth jet and it turned a 11.588 @ 115.66. This is still at 16* total timing and washer fluid blend. I changed to 100% meth and went to a 11.556 @ 116.23. We had a long rain shower so the sun was setting as I ran the final run which is the best ever.
60' - 1.639
330' - 4.710
1/8 - 7.311
mph - 93.84
1000 - 9.565
1/4 - 11.487
mph - 116.92

I must say the 100% Meth didn't help the ET much but it dropped the A/F from 13.3 to 12.2. Over a full point richer. I would still like to see it closer to a mid 11 though. I stayed with miner changes today to do some real comparisons. Still 22 psi and primaries only. It still has the bunny hop but the best 60' today went down to a 1.60. Although not on my best run. Had alot of fun today with this Slant getting lots of attention!
Later.
