I realize that any serious attempt at keeping pace with my local car club that consists of all imports with this old Duster will take far more money than I am willing to throw at it. However now that I got the car to turn nicely and stop far better than when the car was new, my challenge is trying to make some power from it. I purchased this brand new Holley 2300 series 350 cfm 2-bbl. street carburetor (#7448) for the car today from Speed Unlimited for $290.83 shipped to my door. The Holley 2300 series carburetors are basically the front half of their infamous 4160 double pumper carburetors. They share the same primary metering blocks, center hung floats, 'V' fuel bowl, metering block & fuel bowl gaskets, same needle & seat(s), and the same jets as the 4-bbl carbs. Out of the box the 350 cfm unit comes with manual choke, a 61 jet, and a 30cc accelerator pump. Both stock butterflies are 1.690". They also have a standard 5-1/8" air cleaner flange so it will fit any standard 4-bbl. air cleaner, which is a big plus. ![]() In order to install my Mopar Performance aluminum intake manifold I need new gaskets. I ordered intake/exhaust manifold gasket and a hot box gasket. I went with the premium performance graphite gaskets for both places from HEMI Performance. These gaskets have optimum "crush" value ensuring a tight seal especially good for headers, but still able to be used on standard factory manifolds with the same flawless results. The gasket material is a perforated stainless steel insert sandwiched between two layers of flexible graphite to ensure that they have a super high heat tolerance like no other aftermarket gasket. They can also be opened up with die grinder for ported heads still have enough material to seal properly. ~$50.00 shipped from Australia. Shipping was the same amount as both gaskets were. ![]()

I forgot that I needed an adapter to make the Holley 2300 series carburetor fit onto the factory slant six carb. flange on the intake manifold. I found this new unit listed slightly cheaper than Summit Racing sells them for. Plus this seller had the "Best Offer" option which is almost impossible for me to resist. It was listed for $13.99 + $8.90 shipping so I submitted a "Best Offer" of $8.50 (plus $8.90 shipping) and they accepted, so it's on the way! The adapter is 9/16" thick aluminum (plus an extra albeit very thin gasket). ![]() I picked up a new set of 6-leaf XHD rear springs this morning. I got them for $155.00 shipped. Way overkill for this car, but the price was right. A previous owner had the solid aluminum front bushing installed which I'll have to press out and sell to pay for the new rubber bushings I'll be putting back in them.

I stopped by Pomps Tire this morning and ordered a pair of new Ansen Sprint 15-inch x 8-inch rear aluminum wheels by American Racing (VNA695865). They only come polished and this version has a 4.5" backspace (+0 offset). They use standard 60-degree cone seat lugnuts. The cost for the pair was $272.06 out the door. ![]() I also bought a pair of Firestone Indy 500 series tires in a 255-60R-15 size to mount on them. These will definitely give it the true muscle car appearence. Cost was $172.06 mounted/blanaced & out the door. The Treadwear/Traction/Temperature ratings are: 500/A/B. They weigh 30 lbs. (each) and measure 27.1" overall diameter, 10.2" section width, and 8.3" tread width (when measured on a 7.5" wide wheel). ![]() I also picked up these McGard 'Bulge' lug nuts from Summit Racing. The 'Bulge' lug nuts feature a larger seat area for wheels with thick seating flanges. They have a lifetime warranty against fading, chipping, cracking, or rusting! I only needed 10 but I had to order 12 (3 packs of 4 lug nuts). $48.92 delivered to my door was the price paid.

I mounted and installed the rear wheels/tires. I don't really like how polished they are, but not much I can do about it. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Yesterday morning I picked up this AussieSpeed 'Hurricane' 2-bbl. aluminum intake manifold. I don't know if it will produce anymore horsepower/torque than my current Mopar Performance 2-bbl. aluminum intake manifold, however the runners are equal length which is always a good thing. It wasn't cheap ($450.00 shipped), but I should be able to get a chunk back when I sell my M.P. M1 intake & the Mr. Gasket carburetor adapter. It should make the voyage across the big pond in about 4-weeks and be delivered about two weeks after that. I'm not a fan of the bolt on carburetor flange, but at least it is cast for use with the 2300 Holley 2-bbl. carburetors so no spacer/adapter will be needed for my set-up.
