I just got off the phone with Joseph at Wysco and they will be scouting SEMA for slant headers and related items.
I'm confused. Are they looking for slant headers at SEMA to see what the competition is? If so, NOT finding anything would be positive for us. Right? 'Cause if it's the opposite (they're scouting SEMA to find out how much interest there is in slant products), I'd think we're S.O.L.

I think if they are going to SEMA on either point we are S.O.L.

On one hand, do you think Hooker or Clifford is going to display a / header?

On the other, how many of us slanters are going to SEMA??

On one leg, I think they are pulling ours!!! They would have joined the forum by now like Brian and Tom did with the rod/piston.

That's pretty gay that they would sell /6 Headers on Jegs without even having any to sell, WTF?! But, I do hope that they make some to the specs we think would be good: using the Clifford shorties for the upper part, and just extending the primary pipes to 30-34". Same diam pipe (1.5") will be just fine as said by Dart270. Is that what we want right there?

I am doing as much as possible to make this safe as possible for us. This isn't a small company like Clifford. These guys right now are working on this so I think the 7-8 weeks delivery time frame is pretty clear they don't have any yet. With all the drum beating about the "bad economy" they do have a right to be weary as to how to spend money to help them. So as far as this goes I will spear head this then. Does someone have some headers I can get? before all of this need for parts shipping and borrowing happens I will do what I can.

I have to ask what kind of company lists headers in Jeg's with a 7-8 week availability when they don't even have a clue what they look like or where to find a pattern?

That is dangerously close to false advertising.

I'm assuming these will fit early A bodies, otherwise their market will be MUCH smaller.

I'm happy to help in any way.

I called Jegs, yesterday, and gave the sales rep the part number, and asked what vehicles they fit. He didn't know any thing about them. He took my number, and said he would call Wysco, and then get back to me.
He called me back, and said Wysco had discontinued them a couple of years ago, and he did not know why they were still listed in the Jegs catalog.

Hmmm...The plot thickens. I'm really starting to smell shenanigans about these Wysco people.

Hi Everyone, I'm new to the /6 forum and recently traded a /6-V8 converted duster for a 74 /6 automatic Dart Sport+cash.
Anyway, I was reading through this post and was wondering what the current status was with Wysco and producing headers for the /6. Do they have or need a /6 car to work on...I live about ten minutes from their shop and can offer up my car for mockup or whatever else they need it for.
Or if anyone wants me to drop by the shop and break a few kneecaps  ...(JK) I mean...relay some information then let me know.

just out of curiousity, why are we having WYSCO build our headers ? is there no one here capable to jig up a slant header ? I remember what my Dad all ways taught me " The only work you can trust to be done right is the work you do yourself". Seriously we as a group can build our own headers, someone that has a plasma cutter cut the flanges out, yes I know about the ebag ones, weld a 2" long stubb of 1 5/8ths tubing on to the flanges then we can weld up any header combo that we want, some want turbos, some long, some shortie headers, etc...

-But thats just my opinion

-Mike

I would think a solid flange would cause problems because of the way the slant manifolds are mounted. From what I've read, they tend to "slide" back and forth when they heat/cool.

But individual runner headers would be kinda cool!

Yes, you can build your own headers, but it is not just an easy task that anyone can do. It is not too bad IF you happen to own a plasma cutter, mig welder, TIG welder, (or at least a welder) chop saw, grinders, etc. Oh, and then you also need a bunch of U bends, 45's, 30's, some straight pipes, and some collectors. Oh, and a lot of patience. (I have access to all the tools, but not the patience.)

Mild steel flanges are $38 shipped to your house.

One problem with getting anyone with the equipment to build headers is that our market is so small it is hard to turn a profit, and profit is what motivates most companies.

Another problem is getting anyone to agree on what they want for a header. Ask 12 people and you will get at least 8 different answers.

I sent a set of Cliffords to Spitfire Harold a couple years ago when he promised he would make us Slant headers. AFAK, he only made one POS set of tubes, and I had a hell of a time getting my Cliffords back.

Mike J had a custom nitrous header built for the 'BHD' car. I will not tell you what he paid, but there ain't a swingin' dick on this board that would have written that check, not even me and I'm stoopud.
