A great time was had by all I think! We did not have a drop of rain although it looked like it could all day long. Tomorrow looks much the same so let's hope we can get that one in as well.

We had 15 racers on site and three local no shows! But when Greg Undayko unloaded his car he heard a knock and it turned out to be a bearing noise. So he didn't get to run. Phil Stonebacks car lost oil pressure and he was unable to run either. So we had 13 cars for the race. But Will Burns Cuda blew a head gasket on it's first time run so we only had 12 running cars.

As was said, Ron Hamby faced Brian Mimken in a close race where Brian broke out giving Ron the win.

Good Friends, Good food, and good racing.

Sunday, I have about 2 or 3 new folks coming(If it is not raining) so we should have 14 or 15 again.

Gates open at 8:00AM! see you there!

Rick Covalt

Big Congrats to Ron & Brian!!!

I just looked at he local weather and it actually is looking better. Just a possibility of some spotty showers.

Yes Jon, there will be some video , but certainly not for a few days at least. I have pics too but please be patient.

It was fun seeing everyone yesterday. The food was great. Thanks to all of Rick's family for helping with that. It was nice to see the improvements most had made in their cars since last year. Sorry for those that found the weakest part of their car again. As Will said, "This is what I signed up for when I took this challenge on". So I guess that is part and parcel of the quest.

It was interesting to see the fastest slants were faster than many of the V-8 cars. I was interested in the fact that the new mustang that ran had a v-6 and was going quick, and fast. It was quiet, so I assumed it was stock (except for the body damage on the driver's side). V-8's really are becoming very boringly common.

I apologize for splitting early, but I did get to see the first elimination round. There is a hobby shop near by that I always visit when I get up that way. They have closed most of them in my part of the world. I wanted to get there before it closed. I think next year I will go there first.

I am eager to check the reports later to see if today's race happened, and who won.

Till next year, Sam

Just got home and have everything unloaded and put my car in the garage. Then took Ryan's trailer home. Now I am tired!

Another great day of racing! No rain except for about 10 minutes of a light mist, and 20 minutes to dry the track. We had 13 cars for our race today and it came down to Lou in Project V and my son Denny in his truck named "One Stack Mack". Denny red-lighted in his 4-speed truck for the first time all weekend.

Once again we had plenty of food and fellowship, and some great racing as well. I actually had a really cool time racing side by side with Lou and Romeo throughout the weekend. I haven't done that too often and it was really neat!

I will post some pictures in a few days, as our main computer is down at the moment. We will have it back Monday and I wil try and upload some pictures.

Congrats to Lou Madsen and Denny!!!

Yep, great times had by all! Very cool to see the Heath's run 12.44 @ 107 in their Lancer, and run alongside Rick and Romeo. I need to speed my car up just a little bit!! Once again, I missed Will's fast pass (11.10, shut down a bit after 1/8th) by 1 hr... Great to see Flyin Brian and Anna drive there and make some mid 15s runs too.

Thanks so much to the Covalt Clan for hosting such a great weekend of racing. Time to get ready for Farmington/Wilkesboro, folks...

Lou

OOPS, this is Lou posting from Sam's account...

Thanks to the Covalts for once again doing an outstanding job hosting the racers! We got fed both days!!!

Anna and I got home right at the stroke of midnight last night. No further issues going home. I'd like to give a BIG thanks to everyone who helped me troubleshoot my lighting problems. Especially Greg, Lou, and Brian D. :D I have some homework to do before the next race.

Congrats to Ron and Lou on their wins!! I was tickled making it to my first final round on Saturday, and really enjoyed the weekend seeing everybody.

Brian
