Shane returned my call and is open for whatever we want to do. One make-up, 1/8 or 1/4, however we want to schedule it. Dates are Sept. 27-28 for the Mopar Southern Classic. He was glad that he was dealing with me instead of Rob Simmons. Said he was glad Rob had left the country! |

Post subject: | Points / Make up Races |
Sorry guys I've not been on here to post the points and to reach out to the Bristol and Clay City coordinators. Attendance Points (10): Lou Madsen Meril Bruner Sam Daugherty Charlie Schmid Rodney Hargis Larry Chesney Lukus Bruner John (Dad's Truck) Ron Hamby Kay Hamby (had graciously agreed to drive my car) Ryan Covalt Gary Bruner Rusty (team Green) Make up races: It sounds like the coordinators for those events are already on it. Ya'll just let me know if you need anything from us. |

I was only there Friday and was planning not to stay Saturday, so only 5 pts for me. Also, DadTruck did not have a Slant vehicle with him, so that will not count. Sorry John, I hope it's OK I clarified this for you. Just FYI... Lou |

Yeah,... Yer a bunch more handsomer and way more witty than what I is. It's just too bad you STILL ain't got no runnin' Slant 6 racin' car... Ya big Poser! Championship thread is updated with the Crossville points added. |

Lou, Thanks for the correction, I didn't realize that DadTruck wasn't racing and had forgot that you had not planned to race on Saturday (If I don't write it down, it didn't happen). On a side note if the race had not been rained out we would had a 50 POINT RACE!! (when we add in the local boys who had planned on joining us for the first time). |

I had intended to race,, broke a rocker arm on the way down,,had shared that event with most of the folks that I ran into while at Crossville, I put a photo up of the broken part in the engine section of this forum,, wasn't racing, so did not expect any points.. Plan to have everything back together and new and improved for Clay City |

Quote: Another issue for Clay City is: Do we want to run the makeup race (or 2 races) as 1/8th mile, like Crossville? Clay City routinely runs some classes 1/4 and some classes 1/8. Just trying to make things more complicated, but some folks might have been intending to set 1/8th records, FYI.
I see a potential problem for 1/8 mile record attemps. Our rules state no split times on 1/4 mile runs for 1/8 mile records. I kind of doubt we would get extra 1/8 mile time shots for the make up race. If there are no additional 1/8 mile shots, that would limit record attemps to eliminations, only, and the driver might have to be on the brakes. How would this be handled?

I would guess we'll get time shots for the 1/8th mile race if we do that as a makeup. If not, use the elimination runs as you see fit! ALSO, Clay City runs some footbrake classes as 1/8th mile, so you could sign up for that and use those time shots as your record runs. The rules state that you must make the runs at a sanctioned Slant 6 event, so I see no reason why those particular time runs would not count. I have run that footbrake class before to get more time runs for Slant 6, or to try for $$ in that class. Lou |

I agree with you Lou. I see no problem since this would be an 1/8 mi make up race. The rules do not allow split times to be used for 1/8 mi records at 1/4 mile races but this is a 1/8 mi make up/rain out race simply run at a different track. Two different animals. |

OK, That's fine. Just wanted to bring it up before hand to prevent an issue. It would not affect me, as I will not be able to attend. |
