Are the mains custom? What did you pay for them? I'm wanting to take all precautions with my build and I don't want to take any shortcuts.
They are pretty reasonable, under a $100 bucks in most cases. You actually use a set made for a 440 and then make the thrust cap separately since the thrust bearing width is different for the Slants. But making the thrust cap is pretty easy. Then you just have the block line bored, then line honed and your set. Most any competent race shop can do it. I can line bore my own blocks, so I just have to pay for the line honing.

the bottom end arp studs?
Just be careful, and read up on the studs. They can be run in too far and pinch off oil supply form what others have said.

Just one more thing to check!

Ok, back to the head studs, I forgot to mention they are sending me drawings that I need to confirm. I am out of town (someplace warm) for another week. To make sure our studs are correct will someone measure a stud and give me the dimensions of studs. I know they are 7/16. I am pretty sure they are 5 1/4 long. I am not sure how long the 7/16x14 and 7/16x20 threads are. I don't want to end up with a lot of studs the wrong size if they make a mistake on the drawing.

I bought a set of these head studs in arp2000 Material back in 2010.

I was looking at toms' Notes that I found with the set..
No Part # they were a custom order. There were 98 ordered about @ about ~$12 per bolt...

to the other discussion,
I use Arp Main Studs in my race engine.

Just cut about 1/4" to 3/8" off the stud that is on the same side as the Oil Gallery (passenger side) and it will be fine... no need to worry about the lengths after this mod. Drivers side is not an issue.

Is there any reason that they would not do this from the ARP factory? I don't get it!

Wait ! Maybe ARP warns of the catastrophe that can happen in the installation instructions that come with the bolts?

I think they are really a 340 part application? and maybe it's not an issue in a small block?

I am sure Doc and others would be more aware of this than I am.

Tom Wolfe organised a group buy on these back in 2010.

I bought a set.

it looks like we bought 7 sets and they included the Washers and Nuts.

There were 98 Of each Part Ordered..
98 ARP 2000 Head Studs - No PArt # - @ $12.00 A Piece
98 APN58 7/16-20 Hex Nuts - @$0.68 A Piece
98 APW1316N 7/16ID 13/16 OD Washers @ $0.83 A Piece

So after I got 14 Studs, 14 Nuts and 14 Wahsers, Plus Shippiing from ARP to Tom and From Tom to Me i had $200.22 In the Set Back in 2010 as a Price Reference.

I hope this is helpful.

Also Tom's Contact was Justin Phillips @ arp for getting the buy setup.

I'm confused what is wrong with arp lol they could go grab a box of the off the shelf studs walk back over and be like yep those look the right length and thread count hahahaha
They would be exactly the same just different material

That is what they could do but they don't. I am sure being that it is a custom order they want to put the responsibility on the customer. If no one sends me the dimensions by morning that is what I'll have to tell them to do. I don't want to hold up the order until I get back.

Kev, you can take one out. You'll still have 13 left, that should be enough for awhile.

Looks like these are quite a bit cheaper, and at the 220,000 rating.

Thanks, Brooks. Well, that would be really silly if that kit would work for us....

Hopefully Frank can check this with ARP before placing the custom order.

Thanks again,

Lou
