Rick, Good question, the poll only allowed for a single vote per person. The votes for Knoxville were 30 actual people. Sep-Nov is our dry season, typically we have droughts during this time, but I definitely understand the caution. Of those that voted for Knoxville that I know would race, I would doubt more than 2 would travel. |

Still moving forward. Motor is out. Weather is supposed to be mild enough to work in the shop this weekend. Had my last physical therapy session today. Tomorrow I see the surgeon and am planning on getting released to go back to work. Then we see if they take me back. One step at a time. |

Hope it all comes together. Mark G will be selling parts I am sure, but maybe he can get a family member to watch the stuff for a couple of rounds. And if Rusty can run the Dart that would be at least 6 cars. Maybe 7 counting Shawn and his 67 Valiant. |

The #43 is in for Knoxville. We will try to make a family vacation of it, spending some time at Gatlinburg where my wife's dad was a street performer. Cool little resort to stay at as well with plenty of secure trailer parking. Now I just need a date to get on the calendar. Last time I was there, I set a new AA/G record for the 1/8 mile. This time I will set a new AA/A record. (Oops, it might get broken at Mokan) |

Went back to work this week. Didn't die. Talked to my new boss and he claims he will approve my time off for Mokan. Put it in today, we'll see if it actually gets approved. |

Post subject: | Re: 2024 Race schedule discussion. - MoKan sat and sun?? |
Dear Racers, I am trying to confirm if MoKan will have TWO Slant 6 races (one Sat during the Mopar event and also one Sunday) or just the one on Saturday. Bryce Gill is trying to get his flyer out there with the correct dates. Calling Team Green and The Kendalls! Thanks a bunch, Lou |

It's my understanding the Mokan race is Friday/Saturday with Sunday as a rain day. ![]() |

Racers: I have been in communication with Carl Blanton the track owner at Mokan. There is NOT a race scheduled for Sunday April 28th. If Saturday is rained out, he may reschedule to Sunday. I have proposed two scenarios to Mokan: 1. Have one race on Friday during the Test-N-Tune event called "Friday Fun Drags". The track can handle the Slant Six group with dial-ins and whatnot. Our choice of 1/4 mile or 1/8 mile. Then, on Saturday, run the other race during the Mopars Invade event. Again, our choice of 1/4 mile or 1/8 mile. 2. Run two full races on Saturday, 1/4 mile, and 1/8 mile. The track is good with either way. Please note that Time Trial on Saturday are Open Time Trials, meaning you run when you want, as many times as you want, during the time trail period. Flyer says 11:00am to 2:00pm, then gamblers brackets begin. Copy and paste this link to view the flyer. https://www.mokandragway.com/event_info/mopar.html I am still working on Tech Card costs, and if we will be required to buy two cards on Saturday if we run two races on Saturday. The way Mokan does their entries is you pay to get into the track ($15 per head, 12 and under are free) and then buy a tech card to race or practice. I will be running the No-Electronics class as well as the Slant Six class. If you have questions, please PM me on FB or my cell if you have it, or post here and I'll try to check back. |

Thanks, Jeff! My bet is that most people would prefer 2 races on Saturday at MoKan, but I'm afraid I cannot make it so I have no skin in this game... I really wish I could make it again this year!! Maybe 2025... I just checked Clay City again and they have the Mopar Southern Classic scheduled for Aug. 30-31. This would seem to be the best date for us to race there?? Thanks again to all for your interest and support, Lou |
