Got her all warmed up without incident. It took a while for all crap to burn off the header wrap. I think the neighbors thought it was on fire!  Still has 55# oil pressure after warmed up. I know it is going to drop a bit after it is really hot (when I run it down the road and temps outside get hot) But is 55# too much pressure for this engine. It is a re-ringed and bearings stock bottom end with a decent cam and my good head on it. I will to keep the RPM's down to 5200-5400 on this engine. My plans are for it to run this season and then be kept as my back up motor for my new K1 Weisco motor.

I guess it is fine. 10# per 1000 rpm, and I am right there. Oh yeah, 10/30 oil. I could probably try 5/20 and then maybe not be loading that oil pump gear so much.

I also made a heat shield to try and keep a little heat off the carb

Great news! Congrats. 55 psi is fine in my book.

Yea, right on the number. I have one of Doc's pumps on my latest car.Street driven all warmed up you should see about 40-ish at idle. One thing for sure it shows instant pressure at start. No dry starts here.

I got the car all warmed up again this evening and ran the valves again hot. I got to checking and I had two rocker shaft bolts that were not completely tight. Re-torqued the head gasket and then verified that all my pushrods were spinning and that I have plenty of oil up top. Left her run for about a half hour and had no water leaks or oil leaks that I could see. She sounds good and I am feeling better.

Going to try and swap out my 4.56's and go do some T&T Saturday!

Thanks for listening!

Final warm up before blast off!! Ran the car up to temp one more time and drove it around our block 2 times. Everything seemed to be in order. So I took it down the road and made a couple strong pulls from stop to 5200 rpm. Sounds like it has a lot more left but I want to get to test and tune Saturday and run a couple full length 1/4 miles pulls and see how it does.

It needs to have some new fuel put into it and get rid of the race gas. It doesn't need 110 octane for sure.

Off to the garage to install the 3.91"s and then I should be ready.

Rick

3.91's are installed (also had to change out the U-joint due Large yoke on the 4.56's) Washed her up and got her all clean. Now it's ready to race!!

Anyone who wants to come to Mason Dixon with me Staurday is more than welcome. I will be by myself so come on out !! I'll let you take a picture!!

Just in case someone was looking for me at the track, I am not going racing today. I have been sick for 5 days plus it rained all night. So I'll go later this month.

Went to the track today. Mason Dixon was full today and I only got in 2 T&T runs. Both were nearly identical. 15.46 @ 85.8 and 15.48 @ 86.0 with 2.16 60 fts. I was shifting at 5200 so there is probably a tenth or two left in it, but I see no reason to run it to 5800-6000.

I did have a flutter probably around 4000-4500 and then it smooths out and pulls normally on up to my shift point. Any ideas?

I run my car in and out of my garage dozens of times between races, and I was thinking maybe the plugs are a bit fouled? I have had this same thing happen before and it usually only happens on my first run. Then it would be fine after that. Today it did it on both runs. I had a new set of plugs, but forgot and left them at home.

Good news! It made it down the track and drove itself back onto the trailer. All and all a good day. May 17th here we come.

check your rotor tip and contact tips in t the distributor cap.. I would always have a bit of trouble with that when I ran the distributor on ruster.. oil & cranks case fumes create scum on the contacts.. I would scrape em clean and then it would run better again.

it might be the solution to your problem, but it It can't hurt to check.

Thanks Greg, I'll check it out.

Have a very small antifreeze leak, and I can't see for the life of me where it is coming from! About 1 teaspoon after shutdown and leaving it set. I need to get a pressure tester.
