!. I wish I would have left my camera recording on that run and shot video from my drivers window.....It was priceless to see you hit the binders like that just before the finish line and not break out!

If it's any consolation, it was your buddy in the black Omni that put me out of Super ET on Saturday. I broke out by .002!

He ran a 10.58 I believe.

Oh, thats James....he's been racing that GLH for about 10 years or so...2.5 turbo with a 5 speed manual trans.....FWD woohooo!

Looking forward to seeing you at the banquet where we can brainstorm an Ohio race.

Oh yeah,... I said I wuz gonna post some pictures fer proof that I wuz there in an Elimination Round of a Slant 6 race! Mike took a few throughout the weekend with my cell phone. (Yeah, yeah,... I was running it all out. Shifting at 6000-6200 and it would be at 5800-6000 RPM right at the finish every time. 4500 RPM converter and 4.62 gears with the 25.5" rear tires... Lou was asking me about jet sizes, timing, etc... I gave him a sheepish look & said, "I dunno. Gerald built the carb & the timing is whatever it was the last time..." I'll get there. Just need some time to dedicate to learning this stuff. I thought the 4.62s would be too much for the 1/4 mile, but maybe not? I do have that 8 3/4 with the 3.91 Sure Grip I could swap in I s'pose... I need to check that stuff Lou asked about... Jets are somewhere in the carb, right?

I'm really glad to hear you got both races in and had some fun racing. Congratulations on the Wins Lou and Rob. Rob, sounds like your car is running well, times like that on the 1st time out is very promising. (which engine is in this car now?) I really wish I wasn't such a coward and attempted the trip. After towing to Knoxville and Elk Creek I was just too afraid to get rained out again.....Then friday, the dart started miss firing (water in the distributor again) Then I noticed the axle seal leaking, just too many things seemed to be going wrong. I checked the weather early saturday morning and saw it was looking better, and I almost decided to try to quickly load everything up in the Dart and take off for the race sunday. It just didn't work out this time. I'm really glad the weather held up for you guys. Sounded like you had a really good time. I definitely wish Whitney and I could've been there with you all. Rob, I like the score keeping on the back of your shirt. You definitely earn the bragging rights for this year! Congrats Lou & Rob!

Hey Ryan, When I saw the weather Saturday I was thinking of you and Whitney all day. I would have made the same call you did. Shucks. I backed out of Knoxville because of the rain forecast and it was a lot closer to me than Clay City is for you. Three long tows like that to be rained out three times in a row would NOT have been okay. We missed you two. We'll have a big show next year. Focus on Mason-Dixon in a couple weeks and have some fun with that blue Valiant!! The engine in GodsRods Duster II now is the same one that the GodsRods kids and I built back in 2003. It's .040 over with cast pistons, Erson cam, head work by Gerald Wright and a "D.I. Special" distributor. 600 Double Pumper, 4500 Dynamic converter and a Ford 8" with 4.62s and a min-spool. I'm hoping the score keeping will help to "motorvate" Cookie! (And maybe poke him in the eye just a little bit too... )

Post subject:	Clay City Fun!
I got a call from a buddy, on Friday night, who was racing his Omni at Clay City and asked if I was enroute to the track and that there was a bunch of Slant 6 cars there. However it wasn't until Sunday morning until I could even think about heading to Clay City. Got there late on Sunday and the track folks were kind enough to let me enter the Slant 6 race and make a few practice runs. I got eliminated first round by Robs Duster . Oh well thats racing and it was fun!. Just wait 'til next time Rob, hahaha! It was a blast to see and meet new people in the Slant 6 crowd. The people are super nice and seeing the Slant 6 cars, such as the GodsRods Duster and Lou's cool 4dr '64 Valiant with all it's cool features, in person, gives me even more inspiration to make my own fast Slant. Lots of neat cars, forgetting names but a nice 2dr Valiant (Bruner's , I think) and the Funny Truck with it's altered wheel base. Chase's cool Duster, loved the color and Cragars combo! The day went too fast but the weather was nice. Started cool and slightly warming/sunny by mid afternoon. My trip was 270 miles in total and my '72 Valiant with newly converted Super 6 induction averaged about 23mpg. With alot of full throttle testing, where space permitted of course and cruising at about 70ish even though people were passing me like I was standing still...LOL. Not done fiddling with it some more mileage hiding and 1/4 mile speed for sure. Looking forward to the next Slant 6 event and hope to set aside/devote more time in the future!

Thanks to everyone for a great weekend. I hate to say it, but the weather was near perfect. I can certainly understand Ryan and Whitney not risking the 3rd rainout, though. It was a kick to win on Saturday with the new car. Meril gave me a little help in the final, then whupped me in the 1st round on Sunday. GREAT times with all the Bruners, Simmons, and all. Nick, we really appreciate you coming down for Sunday's race, and hope we have fueled your fires for next year. Great little car there with lots of potential. Also, I finally figured out how to sleep comfortably in the new car with the Sebring seats - progress! I'm looking forward to M-D in 3 weeks, and hope to put at least one major mod on the car before then - likely my shift-kitted 904 originally from the 64 Dart and a 2800 converter I have on the shelf. Yeah, that is interesting that both of us won at Clay City and both were visitors of the West this year! Hope all is going well, PJ! Again, great to get to know you and the Killer Bees at Woodburn this August. Lou
