Lower Shores Performance manual boost controller. my dad got it a while ago to use on his vr4 and changed his mind. if you google it it should come up in some tuner forums. |

good news and bad news. good news, didnt blow up my car, tranny is still holding strong and so is my clutch. bad news, didnt run at all like when i was testing it lol. kept going lean in the higher rpm. was not the case before the carb hat so i guess ill have to dial it back in with the new equipment. also going to look into an electric fuel pump and boost referenced regulator. didnt get to make a full run under power. first run was good in first and second then ran lean half way through third. had to get out of it. second run did pretty much the same thing. i had adjusted my boost controller for a little extra on the first run and i put it back to how it was while testing and it still ran lean in the top of 3rd, had to get out of it. third run was no good whatsoever. killed the reaction time for my standards and it stumbled clutched it and it ran lean on partial throttle(trying to get it down the track with reasonable afr). im gonna clean the carb and work on an electric pump. |

Odd that something so small makes such a difference. I guess these are variables you can never expect, but make sense when it comes to boost, everything is so much more "touchy" under boost, little changes make big differences... I hope you get it in tune soon! Goodluck! |

something was pointed out to me tonight by my room mate. is there any reason i couldnt hook my wastegate actuator to the same source im using for my bov? base of the carb. and just run my mechanical pump from the turbo housing. that would ensure my motor is seeing 8lbs and not just the carb hat. would also allow me to adjust boost with the controller i have. |

its been a while. car has been sitting. waiting to gather all the parts for my electric fuel pump. got pretty much everything i need. walbro 255 inline pump , mallory 4307m, 3/8 aluminum line for the return. already have 3/8 for the feed. assorted fitting and a fuel pressure gauge. that all should be going in in the next few days. looked at it a while ago and noticed some of the insulation on my wires was starting to melt and the intake is rediculously hot while its running. obviously that is not good. so got some header wrap. initially i tried wrapping the manifold while it was still in the car but that was a no go. got the first runner and couldnt get my hand behind the manifold to do the rest. so i pulled the manifold, jpipe and the downpipe today and wrapped them. it was a pita to get the manifold covered but it should be worth it. should be another update soon. then back to tuning and trying to reach my 13 second goal. |

installed. the tight tolerances i had before are almost non existent now. got it all together though. working on getting the intake back on. gonna be tricky to get the triangles on and to get to the bottom nuts. |

cant get the two bottom middle nuts on. header wrap is in the way. ill figure it out. got the return line ran. gonna drop the tank tomorrow to change my sending unit and install the bulkhead fitting for the return. regulator is mounted. its getting there. still trying to figure out how im going to run the electric for the pump. i wanna run a relay and power from the battery in the trunk, not sure though. |

Junior, that's the regulator I keep seeing all over ebay with different names and brands etc all over it. I really really really want to know how well it works because that's the one I plan to get to run with my electric pump. I'm going to be going electric to begin with. I'm not bothering trying to make the stock pump work, when running an electric pump is not that difficult. That reg is cheap which is why I want it, and has a gauge already attached to it, but the pictures I keep seeing make it look like it has no return line. |

i had asked on here and on theturboforums.com about regulators and came up with the mallory 4309 and the aeromotive 13301. they both are about the same price and both came highly recommended. i wound up with the mallory 4307m which is pretty close to the 4309. the base pressure on the 4309 is 3-12, on the 4307m its 4-25. pretty much the only difference. the one i have is supposed to be for marine use but i cant really figure why. got it for $50 so i couldnt really pass it up. all three are return style regulators. the return comes out of the bottom. it didnt come with the gauge but the port for it was there as well as three feed ports. electric pump seems to be the way to go. it works fine for low psi but i couldnt get it to work when i turned up the boost. the walbro 255 is a good pump. good company with great feedback and reputation. they go for around $100 on ebay. |
