If you go the the ARP web site, find the SL6 head stud kit and click on the installation instructions you get this PDF --> http://arpinstructions.com/instructions/142-4001.pdf It says they are 200,000 PSI hardware. |

I talked with Alex today. Everything is set although I haven't emailed the paperwork back yet. When I talked with him before he said there were no stock head studs in their ARP 2000 material which is the 220k material. I am not sure how strong the 8740 chromoly material is but I am sure it is not 220k. I am ordering 112 studs teamgreen Mark wants a set too. That makes 7 sets and with the reduced price we will get by ordering more than 100pcs I will buy a second set. Our price now should be around $235 per set plus shipping. |

I called the ARP Tech Line. The Olds 185-4001 studs are 8740, which comes in at 190,000-200,000 psi. I asked what it would take to build a set of Olds studs in ARP2000. He said, "Dunno, maybe $1,100" :tsk: Maybe the Olds guys need to get in on your group buy... |

Alex thinks they should be done sometime the week of April 13-17. I asked him to try to get them done sooner. |

No, not a butter knife. Maybe a carving knife. He said the material was sent to the mfg plant and he wasn't sure what stages they were in. I asked him to nicely light a fire under them to try to get them sooner. |

I have just bought a set of these for my slant. Part number 142-4001. In step 4 of the instructions it says to screw the studs into the block hand tight only , but it doesn't mention to use the assembly lubricant. It only mentions to use the lubricant in step 6 , which is when you install the washers and nuts . Should I be using the lubricant in step 4 when screwing the studs into the block ? It also mentions to torque the nuts in equal stages up to 80 ft lbs. Would 25 , 50 , 80 be close enough ? Also , stock torque setting is 65 ft lbs , would 80 ft lbs be too much ? |
