I got all 4 lugs on the torque convertor tapped out to 3/8" NFT without any problems. I mounted the flexplate with some lock tight on the bolts and a locking plate, so I don't think they are coming loose!

Ryan and Andrew Shank came over for a couple hours and we got the Engine set down in and the transmission and driveling installed.

I test fit the new large tube Clifford headers and they were not even close to fitting on the car with the Clifford intake. All three tubes on the rear header had to be "massaged" in order to get them to fit! One would think if you were using Clifford headers and Clifford intake that the two would play nice together, but such is not the case.

After some more massaging on the headers,I am still not sure they are going to fit. I am tight against the torsion bar with the rear header and I am still not faced up against the head flat. I have moved everything around every way I can trying to gain some more room but it ain't lookin good! Funny thing is there was plenty of room for the header to fit down through the chasis. They are just 1" to far towards the torsion bar. I can probably smash them closed around the torsion bar and get them in, but then they are smashed at the top for the intake clearance and at the bottom for the torsion bar. I think I am just going to install the old smaller tube ones that I ran before and call it a day. kind of disappointed at the whole "Clifford" header/intake mess.

Use a big hammer or a body smoothing hammer in an air chisel.

If you want them to look pretty.... well then.. I got nothing for you.

Tech guys at md will love whatever you have in there.

Ron Hamby can show you how to get rid of those pesky torsion bars like he did on his 62.

I have also had the torque convertor bolts come loose multiple times. So as I mentioned before I drilled out the bolts to 3/8" and ordered some Grade 8 drilled head bolts. With the larger bolts, lock tight, and tie wire they should stay put!

New pan looks at home.

New K frame with notch and the new pan with the corner angle cut play nice together. I have about 3/4" gap. the angle could have been a little longer, but I was going by my eyeball so it worked out fine.

V8 center link does exactly what I wanted it too. Plenty of room.

Thanks Guys! I hope to have it fired up in the next week or so. We shall see.

I took my old headers and cleaned them all up and repainted them and then wrapped the upper half. I dropped them in the car for a quick test fit and it looks good. Tomorrow evening I want to get the shifter cable and brackets all installed and finish up the headers and intake. Then it is just a matter of all the small things.

Very nice work, Rick.

I think Rick has graduated to master craftsman and ever-present Slant Six racer!

Let's get a couple more of those names off the poser list...
