Post subject:  Lean Burn Delete and Points Upgrade Article

I'm posting a fresh draft of my Slant Six Electronic Ignition conversion article for your reading pleasure. I used PDF format so I could include pictures and it's Mac compatible.

Please offer comments and suggestions so it can be useful to others. There is lots more information and pictures I'd like to add, but my time is short, and I think it's alread pretty helpful as-is. A wiring diagram may be the biggest missing piece, but I'll work on that soon and they are available elsewhere.

Thanks for looking.

The article looks good, I will send you a few comment "off board".
Take a look at this wiring image, I'm not sure where it came from but it shows the ECU and the added wires.
Should we add a copy of this article to the articles section here at www.slantsix.org?

Post subject:  Not Quite Finished

Yes, I'd like to share the info with everyone, but I'm not sure it's ready. Give me a week to make additions and corrections.

That wiring diagram is perfect! I'll be sure to include it.

If anyone has comments or suggestions.

Post subject:  Looking better

I made a couple more changes and added the wiring diagram. The pictures are much clearer than before. 8)

Some of the info is of questionable value/ correctness, but I think it gets the job done. The best way to learn what you don't know is to try and teach someone else.

I'd also like to include a few pics of clean installs and factory mounting locations. Many lean burn cars/trucks have the factory mounting holes for clean upgrades. I don't know if older models had them? Take a look!

Now no one has any excuse to run points or lean burn.

Sounds like a pretty useful explanation of the Lean Burn system. If you've got a Lean Burn distributor lying around, I could use one for my Megasquirt setup.

This is ready. I'll still make improvements, but I haven't recieved anything of interest.

I think it's a good overview for a beginner. It could have saved me several weeks of fumbling with my truck.

For my next trick, I've got patterns for the super six kickdown! They should be ready by weeks end. I'll post them FREE! Athough the parts won't work with most of the stock pieces, it may allow for routing around headers!
