Is any one interested in buying Cloyes double roller timing sets for the slant six. The parts are available individually, but Summits pricing is about $102. I spoke with Cloyes, today, and they might be willing to put the parts together as a "set", at a lower price, on a minimum quantity order. They are supposed to get back to me in a couple of days, with quantity required, and pricing, if the "powers that be" would be willing.
Hello Fellow Slant Sixer's .
Just a quick question ,Has anybody tried to set up a timing belt system ? This way you could do away with a distributor and drive the ignition off the end of the camshaft with what you have now without haveing to go to a crank triggered system .
With a belt you would also have dead stable timing as in a crank triggered system & stable cam timing.
You could do it cheaply with junk yard parts & some simple machine work .
You could then put in place of the distributor a alu. billit plug with a ballbearing to support one end of the oilpump shaft.
Just a thought.
PS you could them also really play around with the camtiming real easy.
