Hello, I just registered as a member but haven't gotten an email yet to complete the process. I have been enjoying the site for about a week now and reading everything I can. I recently became the owner(proud, I might add) of a 73 Ply 225 motor, which will be going in my 51 Plymouth truck. While reading some of the posts here I came across a thread about a recent Ebay auction for a 6 Pak intake for the /6. Well, I was lucky enought to have have won the auction. ![]() I know I will have questions to ask you about my buildup. Lots to learn here. The motor I have is newly modified, .040 over, shaved head and block, ported and polished and a windage tray. The seller was going to use it for bracket racing. It came with the CLifford Hyper Pak intake and headers. They are new, but not the "new" that Clifford puts out now. The cam is a MoPar P4529342, 460 lift, 268 duration.(purple cam?) I have the double roller timing chain and mini high torq starter along with a high volume oil pump. I could install the Clifford intake but really like the idea of the tri-power(brings back some memories.) The carbs I'm going to try are the Carter/Weber progressive 2 bbl's: ![]() They are small progressive 2bbls and I had intended running them on my 54 Ply 230 inline motor. I've dropped the idea of completing the 230 buildup in favor of the /6. I had Tom Langdon at Stovebolt modify an Offy 2x1 intake into a 3x2. (there isn't another one in existence to my knowledge). The carbs were his recommendation. ![]() I have a @#*!*# T-5 od trans I plan on using with the motor and a @#*&*! 8" posi rear end. I have just got my mini HiTorq starter and another dist. Anyway, a couple questions . I know bigger valves would help this setup breath better. Could someone recommend a source for the valves and some tips on installation. What would be the best electrical system to run. I plan on using an electric fuel pump. All suggestions/recommendations are welcome and appreciated. I am just a big sponge right now. Sorry for all the info, but I wanted to get it out of the way. I'm not usually long winded. This is a great site and I am happy to be here. Pics of my truck are over at http://www.picturetrail.comelplymino |

Sounds like some very cool projects there. SI valves and Egge Machine are good sources for OS Slant valves w/stock guide diam. I have SB Chev valves in all my motors, and those require 11/32 guides to be installed. You might want to reconsider progressive carbs on that 6 pack setup, since the primary and secondary barrels of each carb will each feed one cylinder with that manifold (no common plenum). So, you'd effectively be running on 3 cylinders until the secondaries kicked in. I think you'll be limited to non-progressive carbs w/ that manifold, but that should be no problem since you can support a lot more CFM with an IR manifold. Enjoy the site, Lou |

Thanks for the heads up Lou. What alternatives carbs should I check out? |

Another alternative might be to fabricate a 1.5" tall, open-center spacer to bolt between the carbs and manifolds. It would act as a plenum, allowing the engine to operate on three barrels until you stuck your foot into it, then all six venturis would be feeding the engine. It would surely take a bit of tuning, but could very well work out. Decent mileage while cruising, but the extra CFM when you need it. Roger |

There are Weber downdrafts non-progressives (DGH??), or Dave Mueller used 3 Holley 350s on his draggin wagon and has gone 11s. Lou |
