Hey there

would a MSD6AL make a noticeable improvement over the stock performance ignition module? I mean, besides the multispark capability below 3k rpm and the rev limiter pills and everything... would I actually FEEL any diffrence between my stock electronic ignition and that module?

thanks.

It's possible, you might see a slight improvement in idle quality. The MSD is designed to make up for short comings in the stock ignition system, under adverse conditions. If your stock system is doing the job, you will not see/feel much difference. If you are running extreamly lean/rich mixtures, or high cylinder pressure, the MSD should make a difference.

i noticed improved idle quality (no blurbling or renditions of tiny misses)

also, it felt much smoother throughout the powerband....but this was compared to a Pertronix converted point distributor...

i like the MSD more than i liked my orange box in my 318/Scamp

FWIW--

I replaced a poorly functioning lean burn/spark control computer ignition on my '87 D150 with an MSD6A (now a 6AL) and noticed a 'seat of the pants' improvement. Mysterious idle-misfire disappeared, cold and warm starts are much easier, and I picked up an additional 1 mpg.

Well worth it IMHO.

well my engine has cam and shaved head and block (not much on each side, I divided .75 in .20 block and .55 head just for having a smooth surface on both sides

I have to say that the beast ain't like to idle that much (my cam is streetable tho) so I think that I might give it a shot.

tahnks for the info
