Post subject:  Tires on a '70 Dart Custom 4-Door

It's recently come to my attention that my tires need replacing. My question is, aside from the standard size tires, which is what I have, what would be good to put on? I once read somewhere that larger tires on the rear could help my mileage a bit. Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Post subject:  depends

that depends on what you want to get out of your car, do you want it to be a lowrider, do you want better handling, are you going to the dragstrip, do you want super highway mileage and don't care about off the line performance..?

larger diameter rear tire will up your mileage, it changes your final gear ratio... slower off the line, better top speed, speedometer will be off

i'm assuming you have 14" rims, i would try out some 205 or maybe 215 60 series tires (depends on how wide your rim is)

Well this car is purely a daily driver for me so what matters is mileage.

Post subject:  diameter

measure the diameter of the tire before you buy them, there is a formula somewhere on the board to find out the RPM difference for different sizes of tires and gearing
