Anybody got a pic/URL of good and bad wear patterns?
My ring gear looks nice and clean, but the wear pattern covers the entire gear face. I've not seen one that looks quite like this... Maybe this is how they're supposed to look.

Generally, more area is better, AFAIK. Best to get a factory service manual for pics of proper pattern.

Maybe one of the gear sellers (Randy's, DTS...) has some pics up?

If you have a wide contact pattern over both sides of the tooth, run it! :D
Here is a nice web page on contact patterns:
http://www.drivetrain.com/ringpinionins ... th%20patte

Please let us know how it works, I have a rearend set-up like you discribe, the contact pattern looks too good to be true. I need to try it to see if it make any noise.
